When the Left Eats Its Own
The latest installment of the hit show When The Left Eats Its Own has just been released. In this episode we find that the recent so-called “Women’s March” lost the support of the Democratic National Committee. Apparently DNC leaders were miffed over some intemperate anti-Semitic remarks made by March leader, Tamika Mallory.
Mallory apparently referred to notorious anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan as a GOAT — a slang term meaning “Greatest of All Time.” Mallory took great pains to point out that it wasn’t his hateful, bigoted anti-Semitic rhetoric that earned him the GOAT title. No, it was all his wonderful work in black communities. “I didn’t call him the greatest of all time because of his rhetoric. I called him the greatest of all time because of what he’s done in black communities” Mallory tweeted. (Or was it chirped?) What Farrakhan has done to be worthy of such praise wasn’t mentioned.
Well, she is right, Farrakhan is a git, as the Brits might say. His virulent anti-Semitism is well known. Perhaps that’s why the DNC wasn’t alone in being miffed with Mallory. Other far left groups also withdrew their support of the “Women’s March.” Only about half of last year’s 500 or so sponsors repeated their sponsorship this year.
The incident with the “goat” has cost them support not only from the DNC but also NARAL, Emily’s List, the Southern Poverty Law Center, NOW and the NAACP among many others. What’s a Women’s March to do?
What Values Does the DNC Stand For?
Everything was fine as long as the focus was on all these women in their pink hats in lockstep on the right to kill children in the womb. That issue is sacrosanct amongst the groups now withdrawing their support. But apparently the support dies if a leader expresses a favorable view for a brazen anti-Semite like Farrakhan.
But it is puzzling why the DNC is all in a twist over this in the first place. It’s not as if there’s overwhelming support for Israel among Democrats. In fact, such support has been declining since at least 2015 if not earlier.
Even more confusing is the DNC’s lack of any issue with newly elected Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. Omar is a Muslim who’s also been known to make anti-Semitic remarks. According to Jonathan Tobin at the National Review, Omar “… invoked classic anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about the nefarious powers of Jews when she tweeted that ‘Israel has hypnotized the world. May Allah awaken the people and make them see the evil doings of Israel.’”
Despite her anti-Semitic leanings, Omar’s fellow Dems rewarded her with a coveted seat on the House Foreign Relations Committee. Just how an anti-Semite like Omar is supposed to build foreign relations isn’t at all clear. Bear in mind, too, that her juicy committee assignment came just days after the GOP stripped Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, of all committee assignments. The GOP did the right thing, disciplining hem for his very unsavory white nationalist comments.
The DNC, on the other hand, can’t seem to decide what it stands for.
Stay Tuned…
One group that remained unfazed, though, is Planned Parenthood. They’re happy to overlook Mallory’s anti-Semitism to continue their support. After all, the right to kill unborn tiny humans and sell their parts for profit is far more important.
Meanwhile, the drama continues to unfold. Wondering when Omar’s anti-Semitism will come back to haunt her? If the DNC will apologize to Mallory for a “rush to judgement”? If Mallory will tell the DNC to take a hike? Be sure to tune in for the next episode of When the Left Eats Its Own. (Cue dramatic organ music)
