We’re Not a Party. We’re a Kingdom.
It’s a concerning thing, how hot politics have become in our society. Many say that the most important things are God, Family and Friends. But more and more, people’s actions show that Politics have made their way up that list.
Can we still trust the intentions of a loved one who voted differently than us? Can we still love them?
Perhaps more concerning is the effect on the Church. Can someone hold different political positions and still be a child of God?
Some Things to Think About
It’s been said many times that people want to be part of something bigger than themselves. My question is: Have parties replaced the Kingdom?
Here are some things to consider:
We’re not a party. We’re a Kingdom.
We’re not a base. We’re His people.
We don’t pick sides. We pursue His Will.
We don’t come from partisan positions. We come from Love.
We’re not political activists. We’re His arms.
We don’t beat people down (for we wrestle not against flesh and blood). We build people up.
We’re not a party. We’re His Kingdom.
And ours is not of this world. Let us act like it.
“Therefore I, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you were called β with complete humility and gentleness, with patience, putting up with one another in love, making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:1-3)
“For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I might win over more of them. … Give no offense either to Jewish or Greek people or to God’s community β just as I also try to please everyone in everything, not seeking my own benefit but the benefit of many, so that they may be saved.” (1 Corinthians 9:19, 10:32-33)
