Christian singer/songwriter Matthew West released the music video to his new song, Unplanned, on Friday, March 22. The Hello, My Name Is singer declares through this song that no life in unplanned. Every life is a work of art created by God.

“As long as my God holds the world in his hands / I know that there’s no such thing as unplanned,” West sings.

The song is the title track to the movie Unplanned, which releases in theaters Friday, March 29.

The film tells the true story of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood director. She converted to the pro-life movement after seeing an ultrasound-guided abortion. Pro-life voices are saying this movie could turn the tide in the pro-life movement.

“I wrote this from the perspective of someone seeing their baby for the first time. Tried to capture the feelings I had when I first heard my daughter’s heartbeat; the overwhelming sense of a life that is precious, a miracle & a gift,” West said on Twitter.

This isn’t West’s first pro-life song. In 2016, the four-time Grammy nominee released the song Untold, written from the perspective of a preborn child saying “I am a story untold.” The song sparked the creation of a toolkit for pastors and group leaders to share and discuss God’s heart for every life through personal stories of teen pregnancy, adoption, and redemption after abortion.
