Tucker Carlson Speaks: ‘True Things Prevail’

Tucker Carlson posted on Twitter his first video address since his departure from Fox News.

Declaring “true things prevail,” Tucker Carlson issued his first public statement Wednesday night since his shocking firing from Fox News. As of 10 a.m Eastern, the Twitter statement had over 48 million views.

Carlson, who was unceremoniously dumped by Fox News Monday despite being the top-ranked, most powerful host in all of cable news β€” or perhaps because he was the most powerful β€” sounded upbeat.

Carlson did not directly address his departure from Fox News. No shouts of “Free at last, free at last.” Instead, he spoke in general terms about the media, national politics and the nature of political discourse. And he offered a little tease of things to come.

The “Unbelievably Stupid Debates”

An upbeat Tucker opened with how when you “step outside the noise,” the first thing you notice is how many “generally kind people” there are. β€œKind and decent people, people who really care about what’s true. And a bunch of hilarious people, also.”

You also realize just how β€œunbelievably stupid” debates on TV are, he said. β€œThey’re completely irrelevant. They mean nothing. In five years, we won’t even remember that we had them. Trust me, as someone who has participated.”

When honest people say what’s true, calmly and without embarrassment, they become powerful. … As long as you can hear the words, there is hope.

He expressed his amazement at how so little time is spent discussing the issues that really matter: β€œWar. Civil liberties. Emerging science. Demographic change. Corporate power. Natural resources. When was the last time you heard a legitimate debate about any of those issues? It’s been a long time. Debates like that are not permitted in American media.”

(You have to wonder: If Carlson stuck to Kid Rock, UFO cover-ups and cattle mutilations would he still have a job?)

The Current Orthodoxies Won’t Last

Tucker discussed the “depressing realization” that we’ve devolved into a β€œone-party” nation, with a “brain dead” orthodoxy.

Both political parties, and their donors, have reached consensus on what benefits them, and they actively collude to shut down any conversation about it. Suddenly, the United States looks very much like a one-party state. That’s a depressing realization, but it’s not permanent. Our current orthodoxies won’t last. They’re brain dead. Nobody actually believes them. Hardly anyone’s life is improved by them. This moment is too inherently ridiculous to continue. And so it won’t.

The people in charge know this; that’s why they’re hysterical and aggressive. They’re afraid. They’ve given up persuasion, they’re resorting to force. But it won’t work.

Is he talking about his firing? The pressure from the likes of Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for Fox News to fire Tucker after he showed videos blowing holes in the J6 narrative? The White House’s targeting of political foes? It’s incessant assault on “MAGA Republicans” as “threats to democracy” and the “soul of our nation”? The DOJ raiding pro-life activists? The labeling of parents questioning radical gender indoctrination and Marxist Critical Race Theory as “domestic terrorists?” The FBI infiltrating traditional Catholic churches? The raiding of journalists like James O’Keefe? The IRS showing up at the doorstep of Matt Taibbi the day of his congressional testimony exposing Twitter? The retributions against FBI whistleblowers? The cancel culture?

So much to choose from.

The Power of Honest People Speaking Truthfully

However, Carlson insists this cannot last. It’s an “iron law of the universe.”

When honest people say what’s true, calmly and without embarrassment, they become powerful. At the same time, the liars, who have been trying to silence them, shrink and they become weaker. That’s the iron law of the universe. True things prevail. Where can you still find Americans saying true things? There aren’t many places left, but there are some. And that’s enough. As long as you can hear the words, there is hope.

And strongly suggesting he has in mind a current venue or new venture where he’ll be back saying “true things” before too long, Tucker closed with a simple, “See you soon.”

Fox News Getting Dirty … as Its Ratings Plummet

Is this a veiled message to Fox News? Rolling Stone is reporting (unfortunately behind a paywall) that Fox News has been building a “dossier of alleged dirt” on Carlson “should he attack the network in the wake of his departure.” You can already see little stories and snipes popping up trying to sully him.

However, you are also seeing a dramatic decline in ratings for Fox News, as viewers jumped to Newsmax. Both Eric Bolling and Greg Kelly saw their viewership triple. The bleed allowed MSNBC to actually beat Fox News in the 12-54 demographic Monday night. Viewership in Tucker’s timeslot dropped 700,000 people overall … and how many of those just tuned in to see what would be said about the host? That difficult task fell to Brian Kilmeade who noted Carlson’s departure, adding a quick. “I wish Tucker the best. I’m great friends with Tucker and always will be. But right now, it’s time for Fox News Tonight, so let’s get started.”

Judging from his comments Wednesday night, Tucker Carlson himself is just getting started.
