They Will Fight for Your Children — Will You?

By Shane Idleman Published on May 18, 2023

I recently attended a small gathering of Christian leaders in Dallas, Texas. One of those attending, Steve Deace (creator of the film, Nefarious), said something regarding the ongoing moral battle that really stood out: “Who wants victory more?”

No Fight — No Victory

His statement begs the question, “Are we willing to do what it takes to tilt the scale back to God?” Whether it’s sports, politics, or business, whoever fights hardest for victory usually gets it.

It appears, due to our apathy and arrogance, that those who promote transgenderism and drag shows for kids want victory more than we do. From taking kids to DragCon in Los Angeles to placing porn in school libraries, they work hard at pushing their hellish agenda.

The deep state of our nation is deeper than ever before. Sadly, most Christians are still stuck in neutral rather than engaging in this massive spiritual battle. To most, fasting is outdated, prayer meetings are old-school, and humility is obsolete. We’re too busy to truly seek God. The very thing we need is the very thing that we are running from.

Full Gun Safes — Empty Prayer Closets

Let’s be clear: When I use the word “fight” I’m not talking about physical violence but a spiritual upheaval. The battle for the soul of our nation (and for the souls of our children) will only be won on our knees as desperate hearts cry out to God. Period! End of story — there is no Plan B. The military can’t save us, Biden can’t lead us, and Trump can’t revive us.

Sadly, as I’ve said many times before, our gun safes are full but our prayer closets are empty! We post angry rants but rarely call a sacred assembly. We are snarky, arrogant, and ego-driven rather than humble, broken, and contrite: “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at My word.” (Is. 66:2 NIV)

Will you do what it takes to win this battle? It begins with humility, desperation, and brokenness. This has been the formula for spiritual success for over 2,000 years. Are we so arrogant as to think that we have a better plan?

The Sword Has Become Dull

Christian leaders must lead the way in humility and repentance: “Gird yourselves and lament, you priests; wail, you who minister before the altar; come, lie all night in sackcloth, you who minister to my God… .” (Joel 1:13) We can have conference calls, meetings, and events, but business as usual is not going to cut it anymore. We must be desperate … desperate for more of God.

As in Jeremiah’s day, “The shepherds have become dull-hearted, and have not sought the Lord.” (Jer. 10:21) We have plenty of pastors, but where are the prophets? Where are those who will wield the weapons of our warfare after being trained by the Master?

Pulpits must wake up the “woke” by allowing the sharp double-edged sword of the Spirit to pierce the heart of the nation. Pastors, we must spend significant time with God in prayer and fasting — in weeping and repentance — to preach the Word in all its fullness. Green-rooms must become prayer rooms. You may lose likes and followers, but you will once again recapture the fire of God.

Politics Won’t Defeat the Demonic

I’m all for political involvement (elections have enormous consequences and the church’s silence has led to the moral corruption that we see today), but politics is not the answer. Christians must move from just participation to adoration: Trusting, seeking, and fully surrendering to God is our only hope.

God’s Word is not vague on the issues confronting us today; it’s crystal clear. The Word can’t be candy-coated; it must be coated with the fragrance of God. We must be filled with the Spirit to triumph in this battle: “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.” (Is. 59:19)

We have become complicit, complacent, and cowardly and that must change. They will fight for your children — will you? Who wants it more?
