Welcome to Thursday morning, as the sun rises on the National Day of Prayer and the curtain begins to rise on Broadway.

National Day of Prayer: “LORD pour out Your LOVE, LIFE, AND LIBERTY.”

The equation for national restoration can’t be more clear: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

The theme for this year’s National Day of Prayer is “LORD pour out Your LOVE, LIFE, AND LIBERTY.” This is taken from 2 Corinthians 3:17: “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

Pastor Shane Idleman set the table for us last night, with his call, “Oh God, Rend the Heavens and Heal Our Crippled Churches and Dying Nation.”

Should Liz Stay? Should She Go?

Rep. Liz Cheney is currently the number 3 ranked Republican in the House. She happens to think Donald Trump is a #2, and is pushing the party to abandon the man who just dramatically expanded the GOP’s base. So there is a strong push to send her packing.

Rep. Steve Scalise, the GOP Minority Whip, is now calling for Cheney to be replaced in House leadership by New York Rep. Elise Stefanik. Trump himself is totally on board with that. Even House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy was caught on a hot mic ripping Cheney, telling Fox News’ Steve Doocy off air “I’ve had it with her.”

But is trading Cheney for Stefanik wise? The Stream’s John Zmirak shares his thoughts in a piece called: “From the Frying Pan Into the Dumpster Fire: Don’t Replace Liz Cheney With Elise Stefanik.” Among his worries, the fact that when it came to actually supporting Trump and conservative causes with votes in Congress, Cheney was far more reliably conservative.

Facebook Overlords Give Thumbs Down to Trump Return. Big Surprise.

As expected, the Facebook “Oversight Board” announced Trump’s ban will continue, with another “review” in six months. Translation: Let’s see if he’s running. But is he running? More and more the answer is looking like a resounding “Yes!” I break it down in a new article scheduled to be out later this morning.

From Our “Who’s The Real Racist” File

After Sen. Tim Scott delivered a rebuttal to Joe Biden’s address to Congress, Democrats sent #UncleTim trending on Twitter. The Chairman of the Democratic Party in Lamar, Texas, Gary O’Connor went further, calling Sen. Scott an “Oreo.” More specifically, the white O’Connor said the black Senator “is little more than an oreo with no real principles.” The good news? On Tuesday, O’Connor offered his resignation. The bad news? Lamar County Democratic Party refused to accept it.

After all, it’s okay to use racial slurs when you’re a Democrat. Oh, but don’t worry, these Lamar County Democratic officials tell The Texas Tribune they “recommit ourselves to conduct our private conversations and public social media discussions with anti-racist, pro-reconciling attitudes and language.”

But Can They Still Call It “The Great White Way”?

Finally, it looks like the curtains will rise again on Broadway this fall. In fact, word came yesterday that productions may start putting tickets on sale in a matter of days. Said Charlotte St. Martin, president of the Broadway League, “We remain cautiously optimistic about Broadway’s ability to resume performances this fall and are happy that fans can start buying tickets again.” Advance sales will help shows determine whether its feasible for the production to open. Gov. Andrew Cuomo says individual theaters can make their own policy about how to deal with COVID risks. (How nice of him.)

Our prayer? Broadway will take the opportunity drop all the woke politicizing and return to making magic. So we can all once again enjoy “The Lullaby of Broadway.”
