The Morning Brew: Biden Bashes Communism … as His Peeps Push Soviet-Style Censorship
Meanwhile, BLM defends Cuba's communist regime and reveals its true colors. But only after all the checks have cleared.
Happy Friday!
Today’s Morning Brew is bubbling over with big doings.
A Small Step in the Right Direction
They must have seen the polling in Florida.
After White House hemming and hawing since protests broke out in Cuba, Joe Biden actually poo-poo’d communism and socialism Thursday. Said Joe, “Communism is a failed system, a universally failed system, and I don’t see socialism as a very useful substitute.”
Yeah. We know. We’ve seen what the socialists and communists running your administration have done to the country the past six months. But nice you finally noticed. Or pretended to notice.
Still, it’ll be fun to see AOC”s eyes pop out of her head over your statement.

Biden’s dismissal of communism and socialism (however insincere, as we’ll see in a second) has had one immediate effect: The start of hell freezing over is mitigating any effects of global warming.
Surgeon General … or Junta General?
The same day Biden condemned communism in words, in deed he embraced Soviet and Chinese style censorship.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said during her briefing Thursday that the Administration was “flagging problematic posts for Facebook.” And is “in regular contact with social media” companies. (No duh.)
Earlier, Biden’s Surgeon General pressured Big Tech companies to censor whatever the Administration deems “misinformation” about COVID. Dr. Vivek Murthy called it an “urgent threat.” Thus using the massive powers of social media to thwart anything that is off-message is a “moral and civic responsibility.”
This government official wants these private companies to “impose clear consequences for accounts that repeatedly violate platform policies.” Hear that? The Biden government wants to punish anyone sharing information it does not like. But leaves the dirty work to others.
“But Al, they’re just talking about COVID.” Really? You really believe that’s where it stops? Or even started?
Question: When did you start hearing a lot about Democrats and social media teaming up to stop the spread of “misinformation”? When election season heated up. Trump, they said, would be spreading “misinformation” about the election. And they had to do something about it. They had to!
Just look at the New York Post’s original story on the Hunter Biden laptop. And any attempt after November 3 to share information about what witnesses had seen and experienced.
Yeah. A Biden official trying to “convince” Big Tech to stifle the flow of information, then the White House ringing up social media to point out posts it doesn’t like, has nothing to do with health of Americans. And everything to do with the death of American liberty.
Murthy and Psaki are no different than the government officials in Cuba who ordered the internet disrupted on Sunday after those mass protests broke out.
Internet for Cuba?
Sen. Marco Rubio, echoed by Gov. Ron DeSantis, is calling on Joe Biden to provide uncensored internet to Cuba to combat the regime’s crackdown. “Step up,” said Gov. DeSantis. “But make sure to hold the rail tightly,” said worried bystanders.
From a technical point of view, this isn’t unprecedented. Donald Trump did something similar with Puerto Rico after the island lost communication in the wake of Hurricane Irene.
Make Cuba a “hot spot” in more ways than one.
How’s It Feel to Be Played, Mitch? BLM Issues Strong Support for Cuba’s Repressive Regime, Blasts US
Wednesday night, BLM released a statement in strong support of Cuba’s repressive communist regime, as the Cuban people take to the streets calling for freedom and liberty … and getting dragged to jail for their trouble. BLM also shredded the U.S., blaming us for Cuba’s dysfunction.
As BLM gives its hallelujah to the thugs that have kept Cuba’s people in bondage for 62 years, I couldn’t help but remember that footage of Sen. Mitch Romney strolling down the street on their behalf, promoting Black Lives Matter. Or the millions of dollars corporations poured into the pockets of these Marxist con artists. Or the Black Lives Matter signs littering the laws of the well-heeled liberal elite just over the DC line, as DC becomes a killing zone for urban blacks with nary a peep.
Oh, but you were so hip, Mitch. So woke. So un-cancelled. So foolish.
On Monday, Sen. Mitt Romney tweeted his support for the Cuban people.
Though miles and sea separate us from the courageous Cubans demonstrating for freedom, we stand beside them with admiration and hope.
— Senator Mitt Romney (@SenatorRomney) July 12, 2021
Perhaps it’s time he apologized for supporting the group that hopes to keep them in bondage.
What? No Friday Fun Quiz?
Sorry. We’re running long today. We’ll see if we can slip one in Tuesday!
