The Identity Crisis

By Janet Boynes Published on May 2, 2023

What do you identify as: male or female? When a biologically born male states that he wants to be identified as a female, the laws were created to support him and give him a pathway to operate in that identity as a woman, regardless of his male organs. The truth is that Genesis 5:2 states, “He created them male and female and blessed them.” God did not ask them which gender they preferred. Nowhere in Scripture does God give a person the option to choose their gender. We are experiencing an identity crisis.

Embracing a Delusion

A male may feel feminine and disconnected from any masculine traits. This may make him more comfortable operating as a female since he has convinced himself of this alternate identity. In his defiance of masculinity, he has rejected his God-given biological structure to embrace a delusion. No matter how strong his thoughts are, he is still a male. Even if his biological organs change, his DNA will still declare him male. What God made him cannot be undone. 2 Corinthians 5:7 instructs us to not live our lives according to how we feel, but by faith. That is faith in a righteous God who actually knows what is best for us.

Someone that has lost their identity in this way looks for affirmation and acceptance of the assumed identity. The male that wants to be a woman wants others to respect his feelings of femininity and the decisions he makes based off of his altered identity. He believes he is a woman. Therefore, everyone around him must affirm this and respect this, even if they do not agree. This male who is experiencing an identity crisis does not concern himself with other’s convictions or beliefs. In fact, he wants you to forget biblical teaching and just accept what he believes about himself, without opposition.

The Unspoken Rebellion of the Gay Community

If we understand biblical teaching, we know that the thief (Satan) comes to steal, kill and destroy. (John 10:10) We know that he wants to discredit anything God creates. If the enemy can get a woman to believe she is a male or vise versa, then they have said that God made a mistake and that they were born with the wrong reproductive organs. As horrendous as this sounds, this is the unspoken rebellion of the gay community. They are fighting for the right to go against a God that is without error and never changes. He made a male and a female and then blessed their union. That union produces fruit.

Is this an issue of the mind? So many of our actions and behaviors begin with a single thought. A seed is planted and it grows. The mind is a very complex spiritual battleground. If we stay fixated on some thoughts, those thoughts will control our actions. This is why the Word of God tells us to be renewed in the spirit of our mind and to think of good and lovely things. We do not fight with flesh and blood but with spiritual wickedness in high places that are continuously strategizing against God’s beautiful creation to turn the truth of God into lies that misappropriate gender.

Man was made in the image of God. He was made to give God honor and demonstrate the love and purpose of God in the earth. The distortion comes when a man chooses not to identify with God and instead finds identity in things outside of God’s Word. The problems escalate as man turns their heart away from God and gratifies their own flesh and wicked desires. The identity crisis is a stronghold that is not easily broken, but not out of the reach of a compassionate and loving Father who is not a respecter of persons and wants to heal anyone who calls on Him. This same God has the desire to give back the identity of those who have somehow lost it. He knows how to bring that male from femininity to masculinity. That is the wonders of God and not man. First that male must identify with God and repent.

Draw Near to God

If you have somehow lost your identity or question your gender, you can find hope and answers as you draw nearer to God. You can find who you are in Christ. He created us all. He knows what you need. Are you willing to take the steps to trust Him and let him lead you back to who He intended you to be? He is not condemning you. He stands with arms wide open waiting to receive anyone that turns to him. Will you allow God to show you who you really were created to be? There is genuine and lasting peace when a person surrenders to the plan God has for their life.
