The Chronicles of Narnia Series Coming to Netflix
C.S. Lewis’ beloved story The Chronicles of Narnia will once again come to the screen, this time in a Netflix series, the online entertainment company said in a statement last week.
Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said The Chronicles of Narnia has resonated with generations of readers worldwide. “Families have fallen in love with characters like Aslan and the entire world of Narnia, and we’re thrilled to be their home for years to come.”
Netflix recently reached a multi-year deal with The C.S. Lewis Company, which will allow Netflix to “develop classic stories from across the Narnia universe into series and films for its members worldwide.”
Douglas Gresham, C.S. Lewis’s stepson, explained that technological advances have made it possible to bring Narnian adventures to life. “Netflix seems to be the very best medium with which to achieve this aim, and I am looking forward to working with them towards this goal.”
Entertainment One (eOne) will partner with The C.S. Lewis Company and Netflix to create the series. Gresham, Vincent Sieber and eOne’s Mark Gordon will serve as executive producers for the series and as producers for features.
Don Halcombe, spokesperson for Netflix, wrote in a statement to The Stream that while the companies came to an agreement on the rights to the series, specific projects are yet to be confirmed or announced.
