UPDATE: Will Smith Apologizes to Chris Rock

Will Smith has issued an apology to comedian Chris Rock a day after the actor stunned Hollywood and the world by smacking Rock at the Academy Awards.  Smith posted his apology on Instagram:

Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.

I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.  
 
I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.

Further Echoes From Will Smith’s Smack Heard ‘Round the World

Fallout continues from Sunday night’s Oscar smackdown, where Will Smith smacked Chris Rock, after Rock made an ill-advised crack about wife Jada Pinkett-Smith’s baldness. (The actress has an auto-immune condition that causes rapid hair loss.)

But was it the joke, really? Smith seemed to enjoy it until he saw Jada’s reaction. So was it a man defending his wife’s honor? Or a man who thought, “Uh-oh, I’d better do something or I’m getting hell when we get home”?

Jason Whitlock writes that at its core the conflict is between Hollywood values and Godly principles:

You can’t defend your family and excel in modern Hollywood. You can’t embrace biblical values and excel in Hollywood. Will Smith is learning this publicly and painfully. In Hollywood, your family is nothing more than fodder for the content machine. That’s why Jada Pinkett Smith talked openly about her sexual infidelity on her “Red Table Talk” podcast. That’s why Will Smith has publicly admitted that his wife talked him into an open marriage. Smith foolishly believes his biblical worldview can withstand the requirements of Hollywood. It can’t.

The funniest thing was the Academy’s response. “The Academy does not condone violence of any form.” Nah, when has Hollywood ever celebrated and honored violence? How many years did Harvey Weinstein have a front row ticket?

Meanwhile, If Will Smith was going to win an Oscar after punching someone, shouldn’t it have been for Ali?

It’s Trump’s Fault (What, Not Putin’s?)

Amazing how it works: One black celebrity smacking another black celebrity in an auditorium filled with people who hate Trump. And somehow it’s Trump’s fault.

First came CNN Analyst Asha Rangappa: “So did like anyone walk out after that happened??? Or are we getting an independent psychological case study on how Trump got normalized?”

Then came Howard Stern on his Sirius XM show: “Not one person came out, because he’s Will Smith, this is how Trump gets away with s***. Will Smith and Trump are the same guy. He decided he’s going to take matters into his own hands. At a time when the world is at war. Bad timing, man. Calm your ******* ass down.”

Will Smith and Donald Trump are the same guy. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen them together.

Why Comfort Smith? Not Rock?

A whole bunch of celebrities raced to comfort Will Smith.

What about the guy who got hit, Chris Rock?

I tell ya, comedians get no respect.

Then again, it’s not surprise to see liberals coddling the perpetrator and ignoring the victim.

And, as Ben Shapiro notes, losing their mind over micro-aggressions.

As for Rock, he’s going to feed on this forever. “I was slapped by Will Smith. Anyone can get slapped by Alec Baldwin. But Will Smith!?”

Still, we do have to thank Smith and Rock for instantly inspiring a mess of memes.

Biden Tries Explaining What He Meant by ‘For God’s Sake, This Man Cannot Remain in Power.’

On Monday, Biden denied he was calling for regime change in Russia when he blurted off-script, “For God’s sake, this man (Putin) cannot remain in power.” He says he was expressing his “moral outrage,” and speaking to the Russian people, not expressing a new U.S. policy of removing Putin.

So he wasn’t calling for regime change in Russia. He was calling on Russians to change regimes.

When asked why he added the line since it wasn’t in the prepared speech, Biden fumbled and mumbled his way through prepared notes.

So, if you are Vladimir Putin, are you believing what Biden is saying with passion or believing what he’s barely reading off the cards?

Russia’s already running video of Biden’s statement. It fits right in with Putin’s narrative that his move into Ukraine is about protecting Russia from the West, argues Liz Peek in a Fox News editorial.

Biden dealt a serious blow to Putin’s opponents in Russia. It is hard to argue that your leader is lying about the West’s aggressive intentions when the president of the United States backs him up.

The second and more dangerous outcome is this: if Putin uses Biden’s words to justify the use of even more deadly force in Ukraine, like chemical or — God forbid — nuclear weapons, that will be on Russia’s strongman, certainly, but also on Biden.

By the way, anyone notice Biden has been to Poland more than he’s been to our own border?

Did Someone Lie or Did Someone Forget Already or is Someone Else in Charge?

On Monday, Biden was asked if he caught any of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Senate confirmation hearing. His answer: “I didn’t get a chance to see any of it, unfortunately.”

However, last week, as AP Reporter Zeke J Miller spotted, the White House said, “The President watched portions of Judge Jacksons’ hearing yesterday and today.”

So the White House told a little white lie … or Biden threw up a big red flag.

If they lie about the little things …

DeSantis Signs Parental Rights in Education Act … or the Make Pedophile-Enabler Heads Explode Act

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the Parental Rights in Education Act. The one critics deceptively dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay” Bill. The Act bans sex education for kindergarten through 3rd grade. Specifically, discussions on gender identity and sexual orientation “or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

Said DeSantis, “We will make sure that parents can send their kids to school to get an education, not an indoctrination.”

The governor also shrugged off mocking of the bill at Sunday night’s Oscars. “If the people who held up degenerates like Harvey Weinstein as heroes are opposing us on parents’ rights, I wear that like a badge of honor.”

Hillary Clinton to Play ‘Giant’ in Arkansas Production of Into the Woods?

Weinstein pal Hillary Clinton will be appearing in the Arkansas Repertory Theater production of Steven Sondheim’s Into the Woods. No, not as the witch. She will be voicing Giant. Giant is the vengeful widow of the giant Jack killed after climbing the beanstalk. The character does not appear on stage and is usually pre-recorded.

Hillary playing a vengeful creature? Nah. I don’t see it. But Hillary says she’s “really excited!”
