The Brew: Trump Calls Florida Heartbeat Bill a ‘Terrible Mistake.’ Mike Pence Talks War With Russia

By John Zmirak Published on September 18, 2023

Al Perrotta is on vacation.

Whoever is advising President Trump on life issues needs to sit him down and explain something to him: You can’t β€œmake everybody happy” and β€œget peace” on the abortion issue. Period. Not possible, or even desirable, since half the country is on Heaven’s side, and the other half sides with Hell. Trump spoke to this issue on Meet The Press, where he called Ron DeSantis’ signing of a β€œheartbeat bill” in Florida β€œa terrible thing and a terrible mistake.”

There’s a reason that pro-choicers insist on abortion up through birth, and we pro-lifers on protection from conception as our goal. You can’t be a β€œlittle bit pregnant,” and the unborn baby doesn’t turn from a tadpole into a baby at some arbitrary point in its development. Abortion is either a basic human right, or the murder of a child. Please pick one, President Trump.

Pence Claims Ukraine Aid Will Actually Prevent War

Trump’s ex-ally, turned rival, Mike Pence meanwhile insists that U.S. aid to Ukraine is the only way to avoid war with nuclear-armed Russia. Yes, you read that right. He told a town hall:

I am convinced that if the Ukrainian military doesn’t stop and repel that Russian invasion, it’s not going to be too long before that Russian army crosses a border that our men and women in uniform are going to have to go and fight under our NATO treaty.

So we have to beat the Russians in Ukraine to avoid fighting them in Poland. Remember when we heard that about fighting the β€œterrorists” in Iraq, who were supposedly behind 9/11? The β€œdomino theory” is also what gave America the Vietnam War. Maybe growing NATO all the way up to Russian borders wasn’t such a smart idea after all, as Pat Buchanan warned back in the 1990s.

One of the few moderates on this topic β€” neither a deluded Putin fanboy nor a drum-beating militarist β€” is Northeastern University Professor Max Abrahms. In Newsweek, he wrote:

The view now ruling the Democratic Party and the President is the same as the warmongers … . It’s un-American not to try to find Russia’s redline for starting World War III. It’s traitorous to believe β€” as the President himself did, just a few months ago β€” that we should be doing all we can to prevent escalation.

The new mantra seems to be: We’re not trying hard enough in Ukraine until we feel the nuclear blast against our faces.

The U.S. has no defense treaty with Ukraine, just a promise of protection which Bill Clinton offered that country without consulting Congress (as the Constitution requires). But the establishment in both our political parties insists on treating Ukraine’s borders as more sacrosanct than our own.

Unmarked White Buses Depositing Illegals in U.S. Cities

America’s borders are de facto controlled by human trafficking cartels, and Joe Biden isn’t just letting that happen. He’s aggressively suing states like Texas that try to defend themselves. Not that blue states get any gentler treatment. Watch as the Border Patrol just dumps hundreds of illegal aliens from a wide assortment of countries on the street in San Diego, California:

At least we know that Biden won’t try that in Martha’s Vineyard, the kind of β€œsanctuary community” that calls the National Guard on immigrants within 24 hours and gets them removed to a military base.

The Deep State Defies Congress to Hide Its Election Interference

Remember the bipartisan conspiracy of intelligence community spooks to discredit Hunter Biden’s laptop as β€œRussian disinformation,” and censor the evidence it contained of Biden family influence peddling to foreign countries and companies? Now the Department of Justice is flouting Congress, trying to prevent lawmakers from probing the propaganda operation that might well have swung the 2020 election. The Daily Mail reports:

The Department of Justice pulled a last-minute maneuver to block an FBI agent allegedly involved in Big Tech’s suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story from testifying before Congress.

The House Judiciary Committee is investigating whether Hunter Biden’s laptop was downplayed by social media companies. As part of the probe, Chairman Jim Jordan uncovered that an FBI agent involved in the saga β€” Elvis Chan β€” lied about the computer.

Chan had agreed to voluntarily appear Friday to provide the committee testimony and be represented by his personal counsel.

Agency witnesses are allowed to bring either agency counsel or personal counsel to committee interviews, but not both. The rule is set up so agency witnesses can be more candid in testimony without fear of professional retribution, according to the committee.

But two sources with direct knowledge of the situation tell DailyMail.com that DOJ derailed the testimony because agency counsel also showed up Friday morning. As a result, Chan’s interview did not take place as planned.

However, Rep. Jim Jordan has issued a congressional subpoena, trying to force the DOJ to let Chan come and tell the truth.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton Acquitted of All Charges, Returns to Work

We’ve been covering the impeachment trial of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. The Western Journal reports that none of the charges convinced Texas senators:

The impeachment trial of Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton came to an end Saturday, with the eligible state senators voting not to remove him from office.

The GOP-held state House voted to impeach the attorney general in late May over alleged corruption, bribery, obstruction and other charges related to the FBI’s investigation into real estate developer and Paxton donor, Nate Paul.

The senators acting as the jury did not sustain the 16 articles of impeachment, and voted to acquit Paxton, according to the trial livestream.

…

Former President Donald Trump rushed to Paxton’s defense ahead of the verdict on Thursday, which the attorney general touted on social media.

β€œTexas Attorney General Ken Paxton was easily re-elected last November, but now establishment RINOS are trying to undo that Election with a shameful impeachment of him,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

…

The attorney general announced Wednesday that he will sit down with Daily Caller News Foundation co-founder Tucker Carlson next week for an interview about the impeachment trial.

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, who presided over the trial, broke his silence over the impeachment after the verdict was reached. He issued a stinging rebuke of those legislators who’d raised the charges, and called for constitutional changes in Texas to prevent the Texas House from again impeaching an official without sworn testimony or evidence.

Here’s AG Paxton’s defense counsel, Tony Buzbee, summing up the case for Fox News:

Don’t miss our Managing Editor Al Perrotta’s fascinating deep-dive into the collapse of the β€œofficial story” about JFK’s assassination. It seems that the β€œmagic bullet” … wasn’t.

After every leading Democrat, and even activist David Hogg, denounces an illegal gun grab by a left-wing governor, who will be the last public figure supporting it? The local Catholic bishop, as I write in my new column.
