Center-left legal scholar, and George Washington University law professor, Jonathan Turley is a national treasure. He’s one of the few old-fashioned liberals (such as Glenn Greenwald, Naomi Wolf and Matt Taibbi) who actually believed in the slogans they used to repeat about “freedom,” “rule of law” and “democracy.” As he told the Daily Caller in response to the Trump indictments:

The most jarring thing about this indictment is that it basically just accuses him of disinformation. This is a disinformation indictment. It says that you were spreading falsehoods, that you were undermining the integrity of the election.

Not only Trump himself, but his legal advisors, such as Rudolph Giuliani, John Eastman and the brave Sidney Powell, are all swept up in this indictment. It wants to threaten people with jail time for saying … things that Democrats claim to be untrue.

Have you got that? The government will send cops to people’s homes and drag them off to prison for making claims of fact and judgment that disagree with the government. That isn’t even authoritarianism, but totalitarianism. In the Spain of the Inquisition, and the Salem of the witch trials, that was the kind of thing that happened. The entirety of the American founding is based on rejecting that model of government as the sole arbiter of what is true and false, whether we’re speaking of religion, politics, science, law or medicine.

But then, remember when the CDC and the NIH were using the FBI to tell Twitter and other social media companies to suppress “disinformation” about COVID … including the evidence of its origin in a Chinese biolab, and legitimate safety questions about the rushed, untested Dead Baby Vaccine?

The argument then was that “false information” could cost human lives, so a desperate medical emergency justified blatant government censorship. In other words, the COVID panic was the pretext for shredding our liberties, just as heresy panic or witchcraft panic served in previous centuries as the pretext for jailing or burning dissenters.

Now the argument of the United States government’s Dept. of Justice is … that saying things we (the regime in power) consider untrue amounts to “incitement” to “insurrection.” In other words, dissent is treason.

This is what the Democrats stand for folks, and apparently Republicans like Mike Pence, too. (At least judging from Pence’s statement supporting the Trump indictments here.)

Not since the Democrats started a civil war to reject the people’s choice in 1860 have we seen such a reckless abuse of power. The regime now wants to criminalize its political opposition, the same way the Communist Party does in China. And it timed its announcement of heresy charges to distract the media from the evidence that then Vice President Biden peddled his office to foreign businessmen.

This kind of political behavior isn’t so much un-American as Latin American, the kind of thing that juntas in places like Honduras used to do. All we need now is for Biden to start appearing in a colonel’s uniform, wearing wrap-around sunglasses.

Remember that Joe Biden was just a compassionate dad, too distracted by the cancer death of his other son to notice that every time crackhead “Smartest Person I Ever Met” Hunter got him on the phone, it seemed to be with some foreign businessman Hunter was trying to schmooze. Or maybe something else was going on, as Hunter’s former business partner Devon Archer told Tucker Carlson in a new episode posted Wednesday:

Gateway Pundit pointed us to economist Larry Kudlow’s response to the Trump indictment. Kudlow points out how the Biden Dept. of Justice operates as a PR operation for the White House, engaging in misdirection and sleight of hand to distract from exposure of Biden corruption:

Larry Kudlow: One reason that this is coming out today is because former Hunter Biden best friend forever Devin Archer did his deposition yesterday and talked about the Hunter family brand, which is an influence-peddling brand. Just hang on a second.

They do this every time something bad happens.

They come up with another indictment. March 16, Jamie Comer reveals Biden’s family payments, and a few weeks later, April 4, Trump’s New York criminal indictment. That was the Alvin Bragg fiasco. Then later in the spring, June 8th, Republican views Biden’s bribery 1023 form. Okay, the GOP unleashed that. The next day, on the 9th, we had Trump’s classified documents indictment about Mar-a-lago. In the summertime, just a few days ago, July 26, we get the Hunter plea deal blows up in Wilmington, Delaware. And guess what? All of a sudden, Trump has to face additional charges from Jack Smith about covering up tapes and having the maintenance guy. I mean, come on.

The Ukraine War Might Spread and Go Nuclear

Also from Gateway Pundit, something even more alarming than the corruption and lawlessness of the Biden administration: A real threat of wider war in Europe. The rogue mercenaries of the Wagner Group (who got their name, I’ve read, thanks to all the founders’ neo-Nazi tattoos) who used to serve Putin’s Russia are now … gathering by the borders of Poland. NATO member Poland, which we are legally bound to defend from attack. The same Poland that Russian troops invaded in 1939, when Stalin was allied to Hitler, before Hitler broke his heart and invaded Russia, too.

Let’s keep praying for peace in Ukraine, and demanding an immediate cease-fire, followed by internationally supervised referenda to determine where the new borders ought to be between that country and Russia. Putin doesn’t want peace. Neither do the neocon warmongers. Neither do the kleptocrats in the Biden crime family. It’s up to us as Christians to be the peace-makers here.
