The Brew: SCOTUS Tells States to ‘Stay in Your Lane’ as Media Mourns Court’s 9-0 Decision to Follow the Constitution

Plus, it's Super Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday! Or should I say it’s a Super Tuesday?

Roughly a third of the nation will soon be covered in β€œI voted” stickers. Sixteen states are holding Democratic primaries, and Republicans are voting in 15 β€” including Colorado, where the state Supreme Court tried to stop voters from casting a ballot for Trump, but the U.S. Supreme Court nixed that Monday in a major way.

SCOTUS in Unanimous Ruling Tells States: Stay in Your Lane

Forget those efforts by Democrats to kick Donald Trump off state ballots via Section Three of the 14th Amendment. The United States Supreme Court unanimously declared β€œNo!” yesterday, saying, “Because the Constitution makes Congress, rather than the States, responsible for enforcing Section 3 against federal officeholders and candidates, we reverse.”

Understand what a 9-0 victory means. It means even a woman who can’t define what a woman is knows this effort to boot Trump from the ballot is bad news.

Trump called the sweep a β€œbig win for America.”

The GOP front-runner added that he thinks the ruling β€œwill go a long way toward bringing our country together.”

In the wake of the decision, Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows withdrew her disqualification of Trump. However, Colorado’s radical Secretary of State Jena Griswold seemed sad and confused.

β€œI am disappointed in the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision stripping states of the authority to enforce Section 3 of the 14th Amendment for federal candidates,” she said. “Colorado should be able to bar oath-breaking insurrections [sic] from our ballot.”

However, the nation’s highest court didn’t β€œstrip” anything. States never had the right, said a unanimous Supreme Court. Besides, who knew β€œinsurrections” could be on a ballot? I wonder how they’d do in a run against β€œANTIFA/BLM Riots”?

The Media Gets Mournful

You’d think the MSNBC/CNN talking heads couldn’t gripe too much about the Court being β€œMAGA,” considering the ruling was a 9-0 sweep β€” at least not without sounding like they’re out of their minds. But you’d be wrong. NewsBusters put together this mash-up of their overwrought gnashing of teeth:

Then there’s former MSNBC and ESPN host Keith Olbermann, who thinks letting people vote means you’ve “betrayed democracy.” He called for the dissolution of the entire Court.

The Nation’s justice correspondent, Elie Mystal, went full gangster, repeating what he wrote last week: β€œThe Supreme Court must be stopped. The Supreme Court must be made to pay a price β€” a political, institutional, professional price β€” for its ongoing political thuggery lightly disguised as jurisprudence.”

How much of this rancor is designed to pressure the Court in the upcoming case on presidential immunity? One can only wonder.

Also, expect today’s unanimous ruling to increase pressure on ailing liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor to retire now so that Joe Biden can appoint a healthy replacement before the election. Imagine the horror if she were to pull a Ruth Bader Ginsburg by refusing to retire during a Democratic administration β€” and then see Donald Trump win and replace her with a conservative.

Advice to Madame Justice: If Hillary Clinton invites you to lunch, take a rain check ’til January 2025.

Democrats Working on Bill to Try and Keep Trump Off Ballot in Light of SCOTUS Ruling

The Democrats are already plotting an end-run around Trump being allowed to remain on the ballot. Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., is β€œworking on” a bill to force him off the ballot through legislative means. According to Axios, the plan β€” first drawn up in 2022 β€” is to create a pathway for the U.S. Department of Justice to sue to keep certain candidates off the ballot under the 14th Amendment. Step two would be for Congress simply to pass a resolution declaring the events of January 6 to be an β€œinsurrection” and those involved β€œinsurrectionists.”

Raskin admits the bill has little chance of getting past House Speaker Mike Johnson and onto the floor, β€œbut we have to try and do it.” You know, to save democracy.

Federal Appeals Court Allows Texas to Arrest and Detain Illegals

Texas can now start arresting and detaining immigrants who cross the border into the state illegally. A federal appellate court has overruled the decision of a lower court preventing the Lone Star State from implementing its recently passed law.

UPDATE: The Supreme Court has granted a Biden Administration request to put a temporary hold on the implementation of the law. Justice Samuel Alito put an administrative stay until 5 p.m. on March 13.

Outdoor clothing giant The North Face might as well be in blackface for all it’s doing for race relations. The company is now offering a 20% discount to shoppers who complete a β€œdigital course in racial inclusion.” Among the nonsensical messages: β€œWhite privilege grants access to the outdoors.” The course β€œAllyship in the Outdoors” offers training on how to become a β€œbetter ally and to make the outdoors a safer, more welcoming place for everyone.”

Is there really a racial barrier to going outside?

Pop Quiz: Say you’re skiing downhill in your pricey North Face gear. Does the tree you run into care if you’re black or white? How about the bear whose path you cross in the wild? Pretty sure we all look like red meat to him.

Meanwhile, Doritos is pulling a Bud Light on steroids. Over the weekend, the brand named artist and influencer Samantha Hudson an ambassador in Spain. Hudson β€” a self-described β€œnon-binary trans girl” with a habit of making what the Daily Caller calls β€œshocking alleged statements that are way too close to pedophilia” β€” openly calls for the destruction of the traditional family.

According to Newsweek, Doritos has yet to comment on Hudson’s hiring. One thing we do know: Not eating Doritos goes great with not drinking Bud Light.
