The Brew: Never Mind About That Trans Day of Visibility on Easter. Biden Says ‘I Didn’t Do That’

By Al Perrotta Published on April 2, 2024

Happy Tuesday!

Todayโ€™s Brew starts with good news. You know how everybodyโ€™s been in an uproar over Joe Biden celebrating the third annual Transgender Day of Visibility on Easter Sunday? Apparently, it was all our imagination! A mass hallucination.

Biden Denies White House Proclamation in His Name Happened

During Mondayโ€™s White House Easter Egg Roll, when he wasnโ€™t sniffing babies, making little girls cry, or urging people to โ€œsay hello to oyster bunnies,โ€ Biden seemed to deny having issued a proclamation to celebrate โ€œTransgender Day of Visibilityโ€ on Easter Sunday.

Hereโ€™s his exchange, according to the pool report:

Q: “Speaker Johnson called it outrageous that Easter Sunday was Transgender Day of Visibility. What do you say to Speaker Johnson?”

Biden: โ€œHeโ€™s thoroughly uninformed.โ€

Q: “Uninformed how?”

Biden: โ€œI didnโ€™t do that.โ€

For the record, he did do that on his personal X, and itโ€™s his signature on the White House proclamation.

Sen. Josh Hawley had the obvious follow-up question: “If Biden didn’t do it, who signed his name to the official proclamation?” (Then our follow-up question: What other official presidential actions has someone else signed without Biden’s knowledge?)

Is Biden lying? Completely out of the loop in his own administration? Or is he just a few Easter eggs short of a basket?

Meanwhile, this is curious. While the White House’s English-language social media posts on Sunday were heavy with the Transgender Day of Visibility business, there was nary a peep about it on its Spanish-language accounts. There, the White House was celebrating Cesar Chavez Day.

This was yet another catch by End Wokeness.

Cartoon Network Ignores Easter, But Plugs Trans Day of Visibility

Remember the good old days when childrenโ€™s cartoons were only used to help sell sugary cereals? Or at worst, show how to use anvils and TNT from the ACME company to try to kill your fast-moving enemy? Now cartoons are being used to sell children radical ideology and teach them to reject oneโ€™s own body.

The Cartoon Network spent Easter Sunday plugging the Transgender Day of Visibility, but there wasn’t a single peep about Easter.

Megan Rapinoe Bullies Fellow Soccer Player Into Apologizing for Retweeting Detransitioner Story

Quick. Whoโ€™s the most toxic personality in all of American sports? Can anyone top recently retired soccer star Megan Rapinoe? Her latest stunt is bullying U.S. National Womenโ€™s Team player Korbin Albert for supporting a young detransitioner on social media and posting videos from pastors about homosexuality and โ€œfeeling transgender.โ€ Korbin also once posted that her pronouns are โ€œU.S.A.โ€

Somehow, according to Rapinoe, this is all โ€œhate.โ€ And Albert had to be crushed — you know, because of โ€œtolerance.โ€

“For people who want to hide behind โ€˜my beliefs,โ€™ I would just ask one question: Are you making any type of space safer, more inclusive, more whole, any semblance of better, bringing the best out of anyone?โ€ Rapinoe posted. โ€œBecause if you arenโ€™t all you believe in is hate. And kids are literally killing themselves because of this hate. Wake, TF up!” She signed it, “yours truly, #15.” (That was Rapinoeโ€™s number on the U.S. Women’s Team. Now itโ€™s Albertโ€™s. Seems like a deliberate stab in the back right there along the lines of, “You don’t deserve to wear my number, bigot.”)

Shortly afterward, the 20-year-old Albert submitted to Rapinoe and the LGBTQ gods, posting:

I want to sincerely apologize for my actions on social media. Liking and sharing posts that are offensive, insensitive and hurtful was immature and disrespectful which was never my intent. I’m really disappointed in myself and am deeply sorry for the hurt that I have caused to my teammates, other players, fans, friends and anyone who was offended.

I truly believe that everyone should feel safe and respected everywhere and on all playing fields. I know my actions have not lived up to that and for that I sincerely apologize. It’s an honor and a privilege to get to play this sport on the world stage and I promise to do better.

We have to ask: Has Rapinoe ever apologized for her assorted slurs and mockery of Christians? Or for how she โ€œalmost bulliedโ€ her teammates into taking a knee during the National Anthem? Or for the way her version of โ€œinclusiveโ€ does not include anyone who disagrees with her? For that matter, how about an apology to all the female athletes who have been injured or denied opportunities because of the transgender athletes Rapinoe wants to see flood womenโ€™s sports?

โ€œWould You Like a Loan With That?โ€ California $20 Minimum Wage for Fast Food Workers Takes Effect

Californiaโ€™s mad rush toward self-destruction continued Monday when a new law setting the minimum wage for fast-food workers at $20/hour took effect. How much higher is this going to drive fast-food prices? Enough to make upsizing your meal require a loan officer. In & Out’s packaging wonโ€™t contain Bible verses anymore; itโ€™ll contain investment tips. Youโ€™ll need a credit check to get a chicken sandwich. Fast-food joints will become so expensive and exclusive that even Gavin Newsom will eat at one.

Seriously, the wage hike comes on the heels of the statewide hourly minimum wage going up to $16 on January 1. Just the News reports that businesses are already laying off workers and raising prices, including two Pizza Hut franchises that have already announced plans to drop 1,200 workers. Fast food workers are especially vulnerable since those services can be almost entirely automated now. In fact, a fully automated McDonalds opened near Fort Worth, Texas, in late 2022. (I’ll have to check it out next time I’m in town, just to find out whether the automated cashier will tell me to “Have a blessed day.”)
