The Brew: Never, Ever, Ever, Ever Forget

By Al Perrotta Published on September 11, 2024

It’s September 11. Despite all the hoopla over last night’s presidential debate, we can’t let the morning go a minute further without remembering what happened on this day in 2001.

We cannot forget the noble sacrifice of the first responders at the Twin Towers, the brave workers at the Pentagon who returned to work the next day to defend this nation even with the building still on fire, or the heroes of Flight 93 who said β€œLet’s roll,” and prevented that plane from delivering a catastrophic blow to the U.S. Capitol.

Nor can we forget all those who in the years since have died as a result of working in the smoky rubble of Manhattan.

And of course, every single warrior who later paid the ultimate price in Afghanistan in the search for Osama bin Laden, including the 13 sacrificed at the altar of incompetence in the disastrous withdrawal of our military in 2021.

We also pray for protection over our nation and posts abroad, that any efforts to cause harm on this anniversary of 9/11 will fail; that the terrorists who have been allowed into this country through the open border will be exposed, apprehended, and locked away.

On this 9/11 anniversary, Jason Jones and John Zmirak team up for the hard-hitting β€œWhat September 11, 2001 Taught Us: There are No Adults in the Room.”

Last Night’s Debate

We’ve done a separate wrap-up of the debate which will be posted on The Stream later this morning. We will also be featuring more post-debate news during today’s serving of Al’s Afternoon Tea.

Cat Memes Don’t Mitigate the Horror of Haitian Migrants in Springfield, Ohio

Hide your pets. The Harris-Biden administration flew 20,000 Haitian migrants into the small pro-Trump town of Springfield, Ohio, and now those migrants are feasting on the public trough … and on neighborhood pets.

Reports abound of the Haitians snatching up locals’ pet cats and enjoying a fancy feast. A resident has gone viral with his complaint to the city about ducks being taken from public parks, beheaded, and eaten.

There didn’t seem to be an uproar last year when one of Harris’s imported Haitians murdered a young child in cold blood, but the targeting of pets has struck a nerve. And given rise to many a meme in the meantime.

And boy, Democrats are upset at the memes. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) was even whining about them in a congressional hearing yesterday.

Raheem Kassam responded best. β€œSo Democrats have expressed more anger and outrage over some memes about illegals eating ducks than they did when Laken Riley was murdered by a migrant.”

More on that hearing in a second.

JD Vance on Cats and Economic Catastrophe

Remember how J.D. Vance was dragged through the mud for using the phrase β€œchildless cat ladies” to describe the women in the halls of power, including Kamala Harris? Ironic that the campaign that did the mudslinging is responsible for the demise of Springfield’s local felines. The Republican vice presidential candidate and Ohio senator says he’s been receiving calls from residents for weeks about pets and local wildlife being snatched by the Haitians. He admits it is possible all the report are false. And yet he asked:

Do you know what’s confirmed? That a child was murdered by a Haitian migrant who had no right to be here. That local health services have been overwhelmed. That communicable diseases — like TB and HIV — have been on the rise. That local schools have struggled to keep up with newcomers who don’t know English. That rents have risen so fast that many Springfield families can’t afford to put a roof over their head.

He had some advice for reporters and activists who didn’t care about the people of Springfield until now: β€œSpare your outrage for your fellow citizens suffering under Kamala Harris’s policies. Be outraged at yourself for letting this happen.”

Meanwhile, in El Paso … Tren De Aragua Takes Over Hotel

The El Paso County attorney in Texas is taking action against the once proud Gateway hotel, accusing it of becoming a base of operations for the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, among a host of other issues. According to court documents, cops were called to the hotel 693 times in two years.

This is the latest example of how a violent gang that’s been given easy access to America is taking over towns and complexes across the country. And taking lives in the process.

Families of Victims Share Heartbreaking Stories on Capitol Hill as Democrats Sleep

Yesterday on Capitol Hill, brokenhearted families of people killed by illegal immigrants or the drugs allowed through the open border shared their experiences with the House Judiciary Committee.

Like the mother of Rachel Morin, a woman with five children of her own who was murdered while out for a jog.

Or like the mother of 20-year-old Kayla Hamilton, who was killed by an MS-13 gang member who amazingly was allowed to attend a public high school in Maryland while being investigated for Hamilton’s rape and murder.

Or like the mother of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray, a Texas girl who was assaulted and murdered by two illegal immigrants from Venezuela.

This was the response of Democrats: Rep. Veronica Escobar accused the grieving families of allowing the Republicans to exploit them for β€œpolitical purposes,” an accusation which did not please the families. As mentioned, Swalwell was more upset about the cat memes featuring Trump then about the rising death toll caused by illegal immigrants.

At least Escobar and Swalwell were paying attention. Unlike Rep. Jerry Nadler.

Yep. That’s Nadler snoring away while a colleague checks his phone.

Let Nadler sleep. It’s the rest of America that has to wake up.

Say What? Harris Policies Are Cut and Pasted from Biden, Her McDonald’s Gig Now Missing?

These are not serious people. Kamala Harris’s campaign finally posted her policy positions Sunday night. Turns out she’s cribbed them directly from Joe Biden’s campaign website. As New Republic detailed, analysis of the language and metadata shows widespread copying and pasting. Plagiarizing from Joe Biden is like robbing Willie Sutton.

How lazy were her staffers? Originally, the Harris page included the line, β€œTogether, we can finish the job for the American people. Are you with us? Join our campaign to re-elect Joe Biden today.”

Here’s why this is concerning. They did the same thing with the Democratic platform at the national convention last month to much mocking, not bothering to change out the language that had been put in place for the Big Guy. Meaning they don’t learn from their mistakes … or don’t care to learn. And they are careless.

The people running Harris’s campaign are the people she’s going to put in high White House positions. How dangerous is it to put in office people whose policies are not only destructive, but who are careless and don’t learn from their mistakes?

Meanwhile, remember how Harris boasted about having once worked at McDonalds? And nobody, least of all Harris, has seemed capable of proving it actually happened? According to Paul Sperry of Real Clear Investigations, mention of the Golden Arches has now disappeared from her website.

However, Harris’s website does now feature her run-in with Corn Pop and how she misses putting on her aviator glasses and cruising Rehoboth Beach in her beloved blue Corvette convertible.
