The Brew: Losing Ivana, Gaining a 2024 Candidate

Good morning.

Sadly, our Brew starts with sad news.

Cultural Icon Ivana Trump Has Passed Away

Ivana Trump, the colorful entrepreneur and first wife of former President Donald Trump passed away Thursday.

Trump made the announcement on Truth Social.

I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City. She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life. Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!

Police sources tell the New York Post Ivana suffered cardiac arrest at her home in New York City.

“Our mother was an incredible woman — a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and caring mother and friend,” Eric Trump said in a statement. “She will be dearly missed by her mother, her three children and ten grandchildren.”

In his best seller, The Art of the Deal, Trump gave Ivana tremendous credit for his business success, and touted her business smarts and toughness. She’s the one who gave her husband the nickname “The Donald.” The couple were a cultural sensation. Even after their very highly publicized divorce, Ivana remained a public figure. She fabulously made light of her divorce in the comedy The First Wives Club, advising three women whose husband left them for younger women, Don’t get mad, get everything.”

Ivana Trump was 73.

The sad news came the same day Donald Trump pretty much announced he’s running again.

He’s In. No Surprise

In a new interview with New York Magazine, the former president all but handed out campaign buttons.

Trump told Olivia Nuzzi that he had made his decision on whether to run. He went on, “I would say my big decision will be whether I go before or after [the midterms].”

Then went on to explain why there are “certain assets” to announcing before.

“Let people know. I think a lot of people would not even run if I did that because, if you look at the polls, they don’t even register. Most of these people. And I think that you would actually have a backlash against them if they ran. People want me to run.”

Trump has been hinting at a run, well, pretty much since reaching Mar-a-Lago. The biggest clue … literally? The unveiling last week of his remodeled, repainted Boeing 757 campaign plane.

Earlier Thursday, news broke that Trump will be making his first return to the Swamp since departing office. He’ll be headlining the America First Policy Institute Summit on July 26.

And swinging by 1600 Pennsylvania to re-measure the curtains.

Joe Biden Also Insists He’s Running and That Democrats Want Him to Run

If Joe Biden has anything to say about it, it’ll be a rematch of 2020.

“Mr. President, what’s your message to Democrats who don’t want you to run again?” a reporter asked Biden Tuesday. After all, a new poll suggests 64% of Democrats don’t want him in 2024. Biden bit back at the reporter, insisting, “They want me to run.”

The reporter responded, “Two-thirds say they don’t.”

Grumpy Gramps shot back, “Read the polls. Read the polls, Jack. You guys are all the same! That poll said 92% of Democrats if I ran would vote for me.”

But does he know what he’s running for? One day later came this gem.

Well, whatever you’re doing, it’s not working.

Jill Biden Uses Spokesperson to Apologize for Taco Gaffe

Jill Biden got serious condemnation and humorous ridicule this week for comparing Hispanics to breakfast tacos during a speech before a group of progressive “latinx.”

But that’s not the worst of it. You can cut slack for a political figure reading something off a script written by her staff that bombs. But not owning up to it afterwards?

Jill Biden did not apologize. She had her spokesperson put out a statement saying she apologized. Hardly the same thing.

No statement under her own name. Check her Twitter feed yourself. She made LaRosa do it.

How much do you want to bet LaRosa is the one who wrote the speech?

Read the info about Dr. Jill on Hunter’s laptop and daughter Ashley’s diary. For that matter, consider the type of woman who’d let her husband publicly struggle and humiliate himself on a daily basis. It’s very easy to believe Biden said, “You wrote it. You made me look like an idiot. You put out the statement.”

A trifecta of amazing articles:

From Larry Taunton, “Did David Rape Bathsheba? And Why It Matters.” Countering progressive efforts to rewrite the biblical history for modern political ends.

Stream Contributor Nolan Lewallen’s “Slaveowners’ Justice for the January 6 Defendants.”

And a fun and fascinating offering from Dr. Gerard M. Nadal, called “A Stupid Liberal Meme Gets Schooled.” Maybe you’ve seen this meme on Facebook:

This is your periodic reminder that the US constitution was written by a handful of rich dudes who didn’t know what atoms were, practiced medicine based on the four humors, had no idea that dinosaurs existed, used guns that fired four rounds per minute, regarded women as literal property, and would have considered a lightbulb to be pure witchcraft.

Dr. Nadal absolutely shreds the meme line by line with the actual history that tells a much more truthful story about out founders. You will want to share this “liberating list of facts.”
