The Brew: Heroes and Villains, Cheers and Jeers
A thrilling Thursday to you!
Today we begin and end with heroes.
Subway Rescuer Daniel Penny Pleads “Not Guilty”
New York City is happy to plaster Pride posters all over the subways. (See next story.) But protecting passengers? Not so much. In fact, if you protect passengers, you can find yourself charged with murder. Ask Daniel Penny.
On Wednesday, the Marine vet pleaded not guilty to second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in the death of Jordan Neely. Neely was a deranged individual who had been tormenting and terrorizing and threatening passengers, until Penny โฆ with the help of others โฆ restrained him. Sadly, Neely would later die from the chokehold Penny put on him.
Penny and those on the train insist his actions were in self-defense. “If [Neely] had carried out his threats, he would have killed somebody,” Penny told Fox News Digital earlier this month. One of those he protected called Penny a โhero.โ
In this country, weโve long celebrated the hero. The brave one who steps in to save the day while others cower. In fact, hours from now, people are going to be stuffing theaters across the nation to celebrate one of the great movie heroes, Indiana Jones.
When someone brought up the movie yesterday, I couldnโt help but think of Daniel Penny in court. He didn’t have a whip, a gun, a fedora or a John Williams soundtrack. Just a desire to save others from a potentially deadly situation.
And for that, New York City wants to lock him away. I put to you: How does D.A. Alvin Bragg compare to the villains who’ve targeted Indiana Jones?
Government-Supported Death Threats Against Those Who Use the Wrong Pronouns?
Further evidence the trans activists are more fascist than fabulous. Posters are showing up on the New York metro for Pride Month that openly threaten death to those who do not bow to the trans activists. One of the messages reads:
โRespect trans people, or your pronouns will be was/were.โ
The Metropolitan Transit Authority has been sponsoring the Pride Train since 2017. And though MTA insists the posters are โunofficial,โ National Pulse notes they do carry the MTA branding.
That site has the full story.
Let’s summarize where we are so far. Threaten people with death, you get a thumbs up from the city. Rescue people from possible death, you get persecuted by the city.

NJ Suing School Districts That Require Parental Notification of Gender Change
The state of New Jersey is suing three of its own school districts. Why? Because those school districts have the common sense to require parents be notified โwhen gender-nonconforming students wish to change their names, be called by new pronouns, or request other accommodations.โ
As College Fix reports, N.J. Attorney General Matthew Platkin went after Middletown Township, Marlboro Township and Manalapan-Englishtown Regional โmere hoursโ after the districts instituted the policy.
In Platkins’ mind, warning parents that little Johnny wants to be called Janey โthreatens the health and safetyโ of children and the policies pose a โsevere riskโ to trans and non-binary students.
Sure. The teacher with the purple Mohawk, a dozen tats and piercings and wearing a t-shirt that reads โCis is a Four-Letter Wordโ knows more about whatโs best for your child than you do.

In a related, if odd story, you know those chants from over the weekend, โWeโre here, weโre queer, weโre coming for your childrenโ? NBC News is trying to brush off the chants, saying itโs been a staple at Pride events for years.
The โcoming for your childrenโ chant has been used for years at Pride events, according to longtime march attendees and gay rights activists, who said itโs one of many provocative expressions used to regain control of slurs against LGBTQ people. https://t.co/vrcbuxCEkf

To be fair, a gay former colleague of mine in L.A. explained long ago thereโs an element of โgive them what they wantโ to Pride marches. The idea being, โCritics and homophobes expect us to act a certain way, so letโs give them a show.โ I can almost hear my old colleague joke, โNo, weโre not coming for your kids. Weโve met your kids. Theyโre brats.โ
Except โฆ some 30 years later, it is overwhelmingly obvious children are being targeted. The activists and cultists are coming after children. Just ask Gays Against Groomers.
Us: Leave the kids alone.
Alphabet Mafia: Stop being homophobic and transphobic.
Us: What?
Alphabet Mafia: Youโre an anti-LGBTQ hate group!
Us: Againโฆ what?
If youโre looking for those doing harm to our community, we urge the Alphabet Mafia to look in the mirror.โฆ

Sneaking Drag Stories to Six Year Olds, Hiding the Rainbow Flag
Librarians in a conservative semi-rural area of Georgia are quietly slipping LGBTQ ideology into the minds of tots. According to Patricia Daugherty at The Federalist, her county library slipped a RuPaul biography into the childrenโs summer reading program.
The story time read from the drag iconโs biography Little Dreams, Big People, according to a screenshot posted by Daugherty.
Daugherty also sites an article by another librarian from the area who explains how the staff has removed the familiar rainbow branding from a program targeting LGBT teens. โAs the librarian describes, this will keep her marketing materials โsafeโ from parents who otherwise might not give permission for their children to participate.โ
Google Drops Drag Show After Christian Employees File Petition
Christian employees at Google were not going to let their Lord be mocked. Hundreds of Christians and supporters filed a petition protesting the company’s planned “Pride and Drag Show” featuring a performer named “Peaches Christ.” The employees said, “Their provocative and inflammatory artistry is considered a direct affront to the religious beliefs and sensitivities of Christians.”
Google subsequently removed the show from the schedule of company-sponsored LGBTQ events. A Google spokesman wouldn’t say if the removal was connected to the petition from Christians. Instead he claimed the event had been posted “without going through our standard events process.”
