The Brew: Happy 100th Birthday, President Jimmy Carter!

Former President Jimmy Carter Turns 100!
Happy birthday, Jimmy Carter! The nationβs 39th president becomes the first in Americaβs history to reach the age of 100.
While Carter is no longer in good enough health to join any public celebration (he’s been in hospice care since February 2023), his hometown of Plains is going all-out for him. Yesterday, according to the Washington Examiner, the town held a road race in the morning and a street party in the evening. Today, 100 new U.S. citizens will be sworn in, and there will be flyovers from four F-18 Navy jets and a fleet of World War II vintage planes.
Irony β¦
Carter once said, βIt is difficult for the common good to prevail against the intense concentration of those who have a special interest, especially if the decisions are made behind locked doors.β
Would that include dumping the duly nominated Democratic presidential candidate in favor of his vice president, thus disenfranchising a whole party?

Should we, therefore, be surprised at her lack of hustle and urgency for the citizens in rural areas that are being ravaged by Hurricane Helene? And should we be surprised that those Harris helped jump over the border are taking advantage of the situation?

Should we be surprised that she wants to create the illusion of being on top of the situation?
This is the most VEEP-like photo ever — pretending to be on a phone call but forgetting to plug in the antiquated earphones while pretending to write on a blank piece of paper instead of actually doing anything. https://t.co/tkzHPplKhe

And where’s Joe Biden? What’s he doing about the disaster? Biden grumpily insisted Monday that he was βcommanding.β He was on the phone a whole two hours on Saturday and Sunday.
Reporter: βWhy weren't you and Vice President Harris here in Washington commanding this weekend?β
Biden: βI was commanding. I was on the phone for at least two hours yesterday and the day before as well. Itβs called a telephone.β pic.twitter.com/XheKZ4zhfi

However, after the backlash over his disinterest in the disaster, The Big Guy did post a brief statement on X. Meanwhile, Donald Trump was on the ground in Georgia with truckloads of supplies and Franklin Graham at his side, offering encouragement and prayers to locals.

In honor of President Carterβs birthday, we would be remiss not to mention that a charity he helped put on the map, Habitat for Humanity, will be involved in long-term efforts to help rebuild housing in impacted areas.
Habitat teams are currently assessing homes damaged by Hurricane Helene as we prepare our response, with a focus on aiding the long-term recovery of housing impacted by the massive storm system that has killed more than 60 people. Read more and learn how you can help.

2nd Trump Shooter Pleads Not Guilty as Secret Service Heads to LGBTQ Meeting at Disney World
Ryan Routh was back in court Monday, pleading not guilty to five federal charges, including attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump.
And what is the Secret Service up to? Several of its personnel are heading Disney World on taxpayer dime next week to attend the four-day LGBTQ βOut and Equal Conference.β Julie Crabtree of RealClearPolitics broke the story about the Secret Serviceβs Office of Equity & Inclusion urging agents throughout the organization to attend. (That would include those on protective details.)
That did not sit well within the rank-and-file agents. As Crabtree reported, one Secret Service source asked, “I would like to know with the operational tempo [we’re under], how they think this is an appropriate use of manpower?”
Uh, itβs not. Which is why as soon as news of this conference went public that in the wake of the stunning security lapses involved in two assassination attempts on Trump (in which DEI practices may have played a role), the Secret Service USSS changed course slightly. It is now limiting participation to non-law enforcement personnel.
Parents Sue to Reverse Newsomβs Ban on Schools Informing Parents Their Kid Identifies as Transgender
Thanks to a new policy recently signed into law by California Gov. Gavin Newsom, public schools statewide are being forced to hide studentsβ transgender identities from parents. Even school districts that hold to the βradicalβ notion that parents should have a say in their kidβs upbringing are now prevented from speaking up.
But parents are fighting back. America First Legal filed suit last week on behalf of a group of parents and the City of Huntington Beach to get the notification policy reversed. As The Federalist notes, some 78% of trans-identifying adults report having had serious mental health issues when they were children.
A child who begins to identify as transgender will likely have mental health issues that his parents, not teachers, will be responsible for addressing. To cut those parents out of the loop, then, doesnβt just deprive parents of their rights; it deprives the child of the mental health care his or her parents would otherwise secure.
This is all in a dayβs work for Newsom, though. He doesnβt believe in parentsβ rights, and he doesnβt believe in protecting the vote.
Facilitate the Steal Part One: Newsom Stops Local Municipalities from Requiring Voter ID
In the same way heβs wiping away parents’ right to know whatβs going on with their own children, Newsom is wiping away protections for legal California voters.
On Sunday, Newsom signed a bill forbidding cities from requiring voter ID in elections. Once again, Huntington Beach tried to bring sanity to the proceedings and protect citizens, only to be stomped by the progressive governor. The voters in Huntington Beach passed a ballot measure earlier this year requiring people to show a photo ID when voting.
Facilitate the Steal, Part Two: Democrat-Controlled FCC Allows Soros to Take Control of 200 Radio Stations Before Election
As a Republican member of the Federal Communications Commission recently warned, the group has officially given George Soros control of more than 200 radio stations nationwide with less than 40 days to go before the election. Many of the Audacity stations carry conservative heavyweights like Mark Levin, Glenn Beck, and Sean Hannity.
In a brazen political move, the FCC bypassed the normal procedure when dealing with potential foreign ownership of radio stations, letting Soros take control without investigative review.
“Never before has the Commission voted to approve the transfer of a broadcast license β let alone the transfer of broadcast licenses for over 200 radio stations across more than 40 markets β without following the requirements and procedures codified in federal law,” FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr wrote in his dissent. “Not once.”
Previously, Carr told Glenn Beck just how much the rules were being bent for Soros. “Foreign company ownership of U.S. radio stations is not supposed to exceed 25%,” he said. “But Soros took foreign investment to make his bid, and then he asked the FCC to make an exception to the usual review process.”
The paperwork released Monday shows a Soros entity will hold 57% βor greaterβ controlling interest.
That’s twice the legal limit for foreign investment, and there was no review — all so an enemy of the Republic can control more than 200 radio stations in an effort to thwart conservative voices before the election.
