The Brew: Hail to the ‘Redskins’ Again? Native American Group Wants Team Name Back … And It’s Not Out of the Realm of Possibility
Welcome to Wednesday!
Todayβs Brew is in a cup colored burgundy and gold. Youβll find out why.
A Special Stream Video
Yesterday we mentioned Mondayβs powerful hearing with the Gold Star families of the 13 Marines killed in a preventable suicide blast during the poorly led withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Weβve put together a compilation of the testimony. In his intro to the video, Stream publisher James Robison insists β¦ indeed, pleads β¦ that all who care about freedom and the preservation of our nation must hear what those parents had to say to our leaders.
Please WATCH and SHARE:
βTheir story cannot end today,β said Rep. Darrell Issa at the close of the hearing. βIn 1792, George Washington impaneled the first Congressional investigation of a failed military battle. It is not new for there to be military mistakes. But it is, in fact, a tradition that investigations donβt end until every question has been answered. All of us have the obligation to retell their stories, to not let it fade until every question has been answered.β
What Gives, Best Buy?
Looks like Best Buy is going to have its Bud Light moment β¦ at the expense of the members of our military.
A follower of Libs of TikTok spotted a rainbow flag posted next to banners for the military branches and the U.S. flag at a local Best Buy in Downington, Pennsylvania.
Follower sent me this picture from a Best Buy in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Does @BestBuy think being trans is being part of a military force? Is being gay just as brave as serving in the military?
Would love to know @BestBuyβs thought process for this display. pic.twitter.com/s7CAVS29Eg

Asks Libs of TikTok, βDoes @BestBuy think being trans is part of the military force? Is being gay just as brave as serving in the military?
Harryβs Razors CEO Talks of βBirthing Parentsβ
For a guy who sells razors, the CEO of Harryβs Razors is not too sharp. Last week, Andy Katz-Mayfield was discussing his βsocially mindedβ companyβs generous parental leave policy. As The Blaze reports Katz-Mayfield made no mention of mothers or fathers. But he was sure happy talking about βbirthingβ and βnon-birthingβ parents.
Here is the CEO of Harryβs Razors
He calls dads βnon-birthing parentsβ and moms βbirthing parentsβ

Rapper Ne-Yo Did NOT Apologize for His Comments Blasting the Sexualization of Children
Rapper Ne-Yo got rapped for appearing to backtrack on strong comments arguing against child sex changes and the sexualization of children. Except he says he didnβt backtrack. Ne-Yoβs trouble with the trans activists came after comments he made in an interview Sunday with VladTV.
He took on parents who support their children say they want to change their sex. βI feel like parents have almost forgotten what the role of a parent is.β
βIf your little boy comes to you and says, βDaddy, I want to be a girl,ββ Ne-Yo said. βAnd you just let him rock with that?β
βIf you let this 5-year-old boy decide to eat candy all day, heβs going to do that. When did it become a good idea to let a 5-year-old, let a 6-year-old, let a 12-year-old make a life-changing decision for themselves?β
Oh, the stink that raised. Somehow this is βtransphobic.β Later Sunday came a tweeted apology. Because isnβt that usually what happens when someone gets in the cross hairs of the LGBTQ activists.
Iβd like to express my deepest apologies… pic.twitter.com/M5aTFN40tn
— NE-YO (@NeYoCompound) August 7, 2023
The tweet: βAfter much reflection, Iβd like to express my deepest apologies to anyone that I may have hurt with my comments on parenting and gender identity. Iβve always been an advocate for love and inclusivity in the LGBTQI+ community, so I understand how my comments couldβve been interpreted as insensitive and offensive.β

One problem, Ne-Yo says he didnβt apologize for βhaving an opinion on the matter.β The tweet was the work of βa publicistβs computer.β While he says he didnβt mean to offend anybody, “I will never be okay with allowing a child to make a decision that [is] detrimental to their life.” The rapper added he βdefinitely planned to educate myself some more on the matter. However, I doubt there’s any book anywhere or any opinion that somebody’s going to tell me that’s going make me OK with letting a child make a decision like that.”
PROGRAMMING NOTE: I am planning to be at a multi-faith rally this morning with parents who are suing over Montgomery Countyβs efforts to force students to ingest radical gender ideology in violation of their religious beliefs.
Native American Group Calls on Washington Commanders to Change Name Back to βRedskinsβ … And That May Be in the Works.
Another bit of evidence the cancel culture war may be shifting … and sanity returning. Could we see the return of the Washington Redskins?
In order to appease the woke army, D.C. government officials and companies like Nike and Fed Ex, former Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder dumped the Redskins name. It was given to the team 90 years ago to honor the legendary Native American athlete Jim Thorpe, along with the teamβs Native American coach. The Redskins logo that was dumped had been designed in consultation with the Red Cloud Indian Fund. In fact, when renaming the team the Commanders, Washington openly acknowledged they were removing any reference or connection to Native Americans at all. (This despite surveys showing up to 90% Native Americans themselves were good with the Redskins name.)
So, in the twisted example of woke logic, the team removed all honor of Native Americans to stop βoffendingβ Native Americans who were not offended. Too bad thereβs not a concussion protocol for cancel culture warriors.
Well, now a Native American group is threatening to launch a boycott of the newly-minted Washington Commanders if the team doesnβt return to its original and fabled name.
On Monday, the Native American Guardians Association sent a letter to the new ownership, calling on the franchise to βrevitalizeβ its relationship with the American Indian Community.

Said founder and president Eunice Davidson, “At this moment in history, we are formally requesting that the team revitalize its relationship with the American Indian community by (i) changing the name back to ‘The Redskins’ which recognizes America’s original inhabitants and (ii) using the team’s historic name and legacy to encourage Americans to learn about, not cancel, the history of America’s tribes and our role in the founding of this Great Nation.”
Thereβs also an online petition, which as of Tuesday evening has just under 70,000 signatures.
Hereβs what makes this especially intriguing … especially for those of us still loaded with Redskins swag. A few weeks ago, after the sale of the team was finalized, new minority owner Magic Johnson revealed the new ownership is examining the possibility of a name change. βEverything is on the table.β And that included the name. On Monday, team president Jason Wright confirmed confirmed to WUSA there has been “plenty” of talk about a name change among the new ownership group.
Neither mentioned a change back to the Redskins. But if they are opening the door β¦
