The Brew: Climate Change Bureaucrats Now Going After New York Pizza?!?!

A great work of art.
Happy Wednesday!
Hope you’re ready for some new Brew action.
But first … Jim Caviezel. John Zmirak. Need I say more?
Sound of Freedom finally opens July 4th.
No Way. NYC Wants Pizzerias to Cut Carbon by 75%
I thought throwing glop on priceless art was a terrible move by the climate change crazies. But messing with New York pizza? That’s the topper. Or should I say “topping”?
The New York City’s Department of Environmental Protection wants to force pizzerias that use coal- and wood-fired ovens to cut carbon emissions by 75%. “All New Yorkers deserve to breathe healthy air, and wood and coal-fired stoves are among the largest contributors of harmful pollutants in neighborhoods with poor air quality,” a DEP spokesman said in a statement. Yeah, pal, but they also produce New York pizza!
The rule, if enacted, would require pizzerias built before 2016 to purchase the pricey emission reduction technology. No telling how many mama and papa pizza shops would be forced to close their doors over the expense. Plus, an anonymous pizza shop owner told the NY Post, the technology wrecks the pizza taste.
“If you (mess) around with the temperature in the oven you change the taste. That pipe, that chimney, it’s that size to create the perfect updraft, keeps the temp perfect. It’s an art as much as a science. You take away the char, the thing that makes the pizza taste great, you kill it.”
It may be a law of nature. If something brings joy to people across ages and races and sexes, the left will target it.
Florida Rep. Byron Donalds wants those pizzerias to move south.
New York: Where taxes are high, crime is out of control, and pizza ovens threaten society more than getting stabbed on the subway.
Again, New York is giving its residents another reason to leave for Florida.
Come on down, but leave your politics at the state line. https://t.co/MKt1muuebA

White House Changes Tune About Biden and Hunter’s Business … But Joe Biden Didn’t Get the Cue
What’s more annoying than lawyers trying to get cute on the assumption we’re stupid? For years, Joe Biden has insisted he has never spoken to his son about his son’s businesses. But now that a WhatsApp message where Hunter declares he’s “sitting with my father” when shaking down a CCP-connected Chinese businessman has been released, the White House is singing a different tune. The White House Counsel’s Office has subtly shifted away from saying Joe never talked to Hunter about business. “The President was never in business with his son,” a spokesman tells Fox Digital. (Emphasis ours.)
Apparently, Joe didn’t get the song change cue. He is sticking to his original story.
“Did you ever lie about never speaking with Hunter about his business deals?” a reporter asked.
“No.”
Q: "Did you lie about never speaking to Hunter about his business deals?"

Too bad she didn’t follow with, “Would you care to say that under oath?”
But at least Joe feels comfortable enough to joke about it when meeting with a foreign leader.

The Spin: Hunter Was in the Haze of Addiction, and Real Story is a “Father’s Love”
Add The View’s Ana Navarro to those pitching the idea this isn’t about bribery and selling out your public office. It’s a “story of a father’s love.”
“The Hunter Biden story, the scandal,” she said Monday, “It’s also a story of a father’s love, and Joe Biden has never and will never give up on his son Hunter and will never treat him lesser than.”
Nicholas Kristoff of The New York Times similarly weighed in.
“While the federal investigation appears to be ongoing, for now I see no clear evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden himself — but the president does offer the country a fine model of the love and support that people with addictions need.”
Please Support The Stream: Equipping Christians to Think Clearly About the Political, Economic, and Moral Issues of Our Day.
Obviously the Times and Hunter’s team are singing from the same sticky hymnal. Last week, Hunter’s lawyers tried explaining away the WhatsApp message of Hunter shaking down a Chinese businessman while “sitting with my father” as happening when Hunter was “in a time of turmoil and addiction.” And had “no connection to anyone in his family.”
This is how deeply we are into Bananas Republic territory.
Usually you hear about addicts stealing from their parents because of their addiction — never hustling millions of dollars for their fathers.
Merrick Garland Facing Impeachment?
According to IRS supervising agent Gary Shapley, six witnesses heard U.S. Attorney David Weiss grumble about not having the authority to charge Hunter Biden outside Delaware and as he saw fit. This directly contradicts what Garland told Congress under oath. Somebody ain’t telling the truth.
In the wake of the whistleblower allegation, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy is now openly floating the idea of impeaching Garland over his weaponization of DOJ.
Two Bud Light Execs Responsible for Dylan Mulvaney Fiasco Fired
The Bud Light marketing executive who thought it would be a bright idea to partner with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney has been canned. As was her boss. The Daily Caller reported Tuesday that an internal text says Bud Light Marketing VP Alissa Heinerschied and Group Vice President for Marketing David Blake are “gone gone.” No longer with the brand. The internal communication indicates the company publicly said the pair had taken a “leave of absence” to avoid a lawsuit.
Bud Light has dropped some 30% of its business since the fiasco, with parent company Anheuser-Busch losing around $27 billion in market value.
Five of the Six Living Presidents are Descendants of Slave Owners
Five of the six living U.S. presidents are the direct descendants of slave-owners, according to research published by Reuters. Do you want to guess which president’s family tree is clean of slavery? We’ll tell you in a second.
Reuters examined the slave ownership histories of America’s “elite,” discovering that more than 100 U.S. leaders, including lawmakers, governors and justices have slave-holding ancestors. The “examination reveals how intimately tied America remains to the institution of slavery.”
Now how many, including those listed, had ancestors who fought — even died — to end slavery? But that’s not the point of the article, is it?
Let’s put it another way: One week before Independence Day, Reuters wants to remind people we’re a nation built, not on “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” but on slavery.
So who is the president whose ancestors weren’t slave owners? Not Barack Obama, as many might assume. His mother’s ancestors owned slaves. Turns out the answer is Donald Trump.
