The Brew: Chaos in Court and on Campus

The Hell panel from "The Garden of Earthly Delights," by Hieronymous Bosch.

NTD News reported on the hugely significant Supreme Court case challenging Idaho’s law protecting unborn children from abortion. Oral arguments took place Wednesday, and a ruling is expected by the end of June. So far, the outlook seems hopeful, based on questions from the bench. According to NTD:

Most Supreme Court justices seemed inclined to accept Idaho’s argument on April 24 that the state’s strict abortion law does not conflict with a federal law that prevents hospitals from refusing to treat indigent emergency room patients.

At the same time, liberal justices vigorously questioned whether the Idaho law is putting women in danger.

The court heard oral arguments in Moyle v. United States, which has been consolidated with Idaho v. United States. Lead applicant-petitioner Mike Moyle is the Republican speaker of Idaho’s House of Representatives. The conservative Alliance Defending Freedom is on Idaho’s legal team.

Given how hot and cold even President Trump’s appointees, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Barrett, have blown on some crucial cases, this is a time for prayer warriors to climb into their closets.

What Would Tucker Do?

Mike Huckabee has resolved one of the great mysteries of history β€” or of media censorship, anyway. In a recent column, he asked:

Haven’t you always wondered what Tucker Carlson was planning to say … the day he was β€œrelieved of duty” by FOX NEWS β€” which happens to have been exactly one year ago on Wednesday? Now we know.

In the monologue he’d intended for that night, he was going to preview an interview he’d done with former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund. He’d sent the copy for his monologue to his producers in the morning, and later that day his show was pulled from the air with no explanation by FOX NEWS President Suzanne Scott.

Remember the Official Story, and teach it to your children as an article of faith: The protest on January 6 was worse than Pearl Harbor and worse than firing on Fort Sumter, the act of β€œinsurrectionists” who are β€œchildren of the same foul spirit” as the 9/11 hijackers, as George W. Bush explained to us. Got it? Good.

The Farce in New York City

A law professor has published an op-ed in the New York Times (of all places), calling the Manhattan case against Trump (which deems the “hush money” paid to Stormy Daniels to be β€œelection interference,” for those of you not keeping track of all the lawfare) an β€œembarrassment of prosecutorial ethics and apparent selective prosecution,” and predicted that the case will likely collapse. That’s because it’s a Rube Goldberg attempt to bootstrap alleged New York State crimes on unproven charges of a federal crime for which Trump has never even been indicted. But in a world where Fani Willis is still a prosecutor, don’t count on a sane outcome too soon.

In other good news for the rule of law, the New York rape conviction of movie producer Harvey Weinstein was overturned, on the mere technicality that it was entirely lawless and violated all the rules of evidence, as ABC News reports:

The New York Court of Appeals, in a scathing 4-3 opinion, overturned Weinstein’s conviction on sex crimes against three women, finding the trial judge “erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes.”

The court said that testimony “served no material non-propensity purpose” and “portrayed defendant in a highly prejudicial light.”

While we aren’t exactly fans of Weinstein, we agree with the principle at work here. So if even he can (eventually) get justice, maybe there’s some hope for Donald Trump.

The Witch Trial in Michigan

Or maybe not. The lawfare monkeys keep flinging their poop against the walls, hoping that something will stick. Gateway Pundit reports:

President Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and Mark Meadows were named as co-conspirators in Michigan’s alternate elector lawfare case against 16 Republican electors. Last July Democrat Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel criminally charged 16 dueling β€˜Trump electors’ in the state’s 2020 election. … Each of the 16 defendants were charged with the following felonies:

  • One count of Conspiracy to Commit Forgery, a 14-year felony,
  • Two counts of Forgery, a 14-year felony,
  • One count of Conspiracy to Commit Uttering and Publishing, a 14-year felony,
  • One count of Uttering and Publishing, a 14-year felony,
  • One count of Conspiracy to Commit Election Law Forgery, a 5-year felony, and,
  • Two counts of Election Law Forgery, a 5-year felony.

Don’t forget that Democrats in Congress are trying to get Trump (if convicted) stripped of Secret Service protection so he can be murdered in prison. (If only Trump hadn’t destroyed β€œcivility” in politics by issuing all those mean tweets.)

Remember, These People Are Our Natural Aristocracy

Just in case you were wondering, Ivy League colleges aren’t just sites of antisemitic pogroms. They’re also the home of our intellectual elite, who will man the Deep State and billion-dollar corporations some day. Keep that in mind as you savor this footage of Earth Day celebrations at Columbia University this week:

These people are your superiors, and you should defer to their judgment for the rest of your life. M’kay?
