The Brew: Biden’s Flim-Flam at the Border, New Polling Shows Trump Verdict’s Impact on Election
Plus, party for flag-rescuing UNC frat boys is set for Labor Day.
Happy Tuesday!
Todayβs Brew starts at the border. But not before noting that today marks the 35th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre. While China says 200 were killed when its military moved on pro-democracy protesters in 1989, other estimates put the death toll in the thousands.
Stream contributor Cheynuan Snider took part in the protests at a campus 600 miles from Beijing. Yesterday, she took us through the events leading up to and immediately after Tiananmen Square. Today, in Part Two, which publishes at 9 a.m. Eastern time, she examines the question: “Why did the largest student movement in Chinese history fail?”
Biden Issues Executive Order on Border While Quietly Giving Amnesty to Hundreds of Thousands and Sitting on His Hands While Illegal Immigrants Gun Down Cops
Watch the left hand when Biden is waving his right. In a transparent campaign move, Joe Biden is expected to make an executive order today that reportedly will partially suspend amnesty processing at the U.S. Mexican border. Just the News reports that the order will allow U.S. immigration officials to deport migrants who enter the U.S. illegally without formally processing their asylum claims and giving them a court date. Does this sound familiar? If so, it’s because it’s Trumpβs old 212 (f) rule that Biden discarded when he took office in favor of throwing the border wide open to pretty much anyone.
But hereβs the catch: Border agents wonβt stop processing the illegals until a daily threshold is met. Axios reports the exact number is unclear, but officials have been talking about a cap of 4,000 to 5,000 a day. In other words, Bidenβs βactionβ on the border will continue to allow thousands of illegal immigrants to waltz in every day, before saying, βSorry. Done for the day. Come back tomorrow!β
Do you want to do the math? Even at the lower number, we are talking about nearly 1.5 million illegal immigrants every year being simply allowed into the country. That will be baked into the system. Thatβs the border “plan” Biden will be pitching today.
Is he building a wall? No. But he is building roads and railways along the border to make the journey into our country even easier.
Biden issued three presidential permits today for border construction in Eagle Pass, Maverick County and Cameron County to "construct, maintain, and operate a vehicular, pedestrian, and rail crossing located on the United States border with Mexico"

At the same time, far from the cameras, Biden has secretly been giving hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants amnesty. The New York Post has the details. Since 2022, the administration has secretly dropped more than 350,000 asylum cases. Boom. Gone. βThey are removed from the system and no longer required to check in with authorities,β the Post reports. No, they werenβt granted asylum. They simply can wander around the country as they please, as if they own the place.
And their toll on America continues to climb.

Overnight Monday, two NYPD cops were shot by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela. (Thankfully, both will be okay.) The 19-year-old suspect, Bernardo Castro Mata, has been living on your dime in Alvin Braggβs Big Apple and is suspected of a series of robberies. Law enforcement sources told the New York Post that Mata entered the U.S. through Eagle Pass, Texas, last July.
Time to Start Filing Criminal Charges?
U.S. Rep. Chip Roy of Texas had a very interesting response to the NYPD shooting that should make Team Biden put down their champagne glasses over the Trump verdict long enough to take notice.
At some point, the government βleadersβ with the actual executive authority to prevent this foreseeable circumstance might be flirting with criminally negligent homicide(s) when they refuse to take the steps a reasonable person would take to stop it. https://t.co/dUTVKYXDGw

“At some point, the government ‘leaders’ with the actual executive authority to prevent this foreseeable circumstance might be flirting with criminally negligent homicide(s) when they refuse to take the steps a reasonable person would take to stop it.”
Thatβs Texan for, βWeβre going to barge through the door you have opened. You want to send a former president to prison over a ledger entry involving a porn star? Weβve got hundreds of thousands of dead bodies because of a presidentβs actions at the border. Lawyer up, Brandon and Mayorkas.β
In a response to Thursday’s verdict, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said, in part, βI will unleash every tool at my disposal to fight this blatant corruption and political persecution spewing from New York and the Biden administration.”
Post-Verdict Polling and the 2016 Parallel
Though itβs hard to tell just what effect the Trump verdict will have on the election, the post-conviction Decision Desk forecast still shows Trump with a 56% chance of winning, with a 280-258 Electoral College victory.
However, Rachel Maddow is touting several mainstream media polls which show a plurality of the country agrees with the verdict; ABC News/Ipsos polling now shows Trump and Biden in a tie, whereas the poll taken right before the verdict showed Trump ahead by 2 points, all within the margin of error.
Interestingly, a 2020 study published in the Political Communication journal determined that Trump ended up losing 2% of his support in 2016 due to the Access Hollywood tape. That’s about the same bump Biden is now getting from the Trump conviction.
In case youβre wondering, at this point in the 2016 race, Hillary Clinton was up 4% on Trump.
And, according to the Fivethirtyeight pollsters, Joe Biden was up by 6.2% on Trump on June 4, 2020.
The Party Is On! βFlagstockβ for UNC Frat Boys Who Protected Flag Set for Labor Day
In April, a group of frat brothers at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill got spit on and pelted with objects as they protected the American flag from antisemitic, anti-American protesters.
One of the best photos of 2024 so far:

The young men were hailed as heroes β¦ and a GoFundMe was then set up to throw them the biggest party in frat history. More than $515,000 was raised, and now a date has been set for the event: βFlagstockβ will take place on Labor Day.
John Noonan, the military vet who came up with idea, says heβs created the Pints for Patriots organization to plan and man the party, to βensure every cent of donor dollars goes to throwing these fine young Americans the epic rager they earned.β
The location for Flagstock has not been announced, but country star John Rich will be headlining it and is currently lining up other artists. Updates will be available at Flagstock.live
