The Brew: Biden Rewrites Title IX, Leaving Female Athletes at Schools Nationwide in the Dust
Plus an update on those "furries" plaguing a Utah middle school.
Happy Monday!
Today’s Brew is a tribute to the female athletes and legislators of old who fought to give girls the same opportunities in schools as boys via the landmark legislation, Title IX, which has now been gutted with the stroke of a pen.
Biden Turns Title IX Upside Down: So Long, Women’s Sports. Bye-Bye, Distinction Between Sexes
Remember when you were in school and learned that only Congress can write and change laws? That was back in the days when we were still considered a constitutional republic, before the Pride flag replaced the Stars and Stripes in our government buildings.
On Friday, the Biden administration unilaterally dumped “sex” in the Title IX for the term “gender identity.” Therefore, the U.S. Department of Education no longer applies Title IX based on “sex” as the law is written; it’s now “based on stereotypes, sexual orientation, gender identity, [or] sex characteristics.” Sex-based categories and distinctions between boys and girls in sports are now gone.
Title IX was created to give equal opportunities for girls and women in athletics so they wouldn’t have to compete against physically stronger and faster boys. Yet now, under this edict, girls’ teams must now allow boys who identify as female to join them and share their private locker room spaces and showers with biological males — and scholarships set aside for women can now go to hairy six-foot males who couldn’t cut it on men’s teams. A school is also now deemed to be violating Title IX if anyone refuses to use a student’s preferred pronoun — and charged with harassment for even questioning it.
The Biden Admin has just officially abolished Title IX as we knew it. Now, sex = gender identity.
In a nutshell, the new rewrite means:
– men can take academic AND athletic scholarships from women
– men will have FULL access to bathrooms, locker rooms, etc
– men could be… pic.twitter.com/JfQVI9Yfph— Riley Gaines (@Riley_Gaines_) April 19, 2024
The administration and many media reports claim the rewritten rule doesn’t address the issue of males in female sports. Sarah Parshall Perry of the Daily Signal calls this a “complete head fake.”
By expanding the definition of “sex” to include “gender identity” and applying the rule to all “extracurricular activities,” male and female athletic teams will be a thing of the past. Indeed, the word “athletics” appears in the new rule at least 31 times.
The Good News? Girls Are Fighting Back
However, female athletes are starting to fight back. In West Virginia, a group of middle schoolers refused to compete in the shot put against a trans athlete who identifies as female.

This comes just 2 days after the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals blocked the WV law that says you must compete in the category that matches your sex.

This happened at the 2024 Harrison County Middle School Championships last Thursday. Several girls from Lincoln Middle School stepped into the shot put ring when their names were called, only to “step out” a moment later, refusing to participate. According to Outkick, the trans-identifying boy ended up winning the championship.
The protest came only two days after a federal appeals court ruled in favor of the 13-year-old, who sued West Virginia over its ban on males competing in female events.
Nice to see the athletes throw their weight around by not throwing a weight around. (Yeah. That’s Shot put humor at its weakest.)
Bill Maher Blasts Progressive Gender Ideology’s “Entrapment” of Kids
Liberal talk show host Bill Maher delivered a scathing monologue Friday night condemning not only Hollywood’s hypocrisy when it comes to pedophilia, but the progressives shoving gender ideology onto children. While most have been calling it “indoctrination” or “grooming,” Maher called it “entrapment,” akin to the FBI setting up people to commit terrorist acts they never would have thought about on their own.
(Warning: The language gets crude, and the real clips Maher shows are disturbing.)
One clip of a child tipping a mostly naked drag queen brought an audible gasp even from Maher’s liberal studio audience. So many Americans have no idea this is going on because the media they consume refuses to tell them the facts. But let’s keep pushing. Shining light on those dark places is working.
By Sunday afternoon, Maher’s monologue had accumulated nearly 40 million views on X.
Update: Proof of “Furries Gone Wild”
Last week in Al’s Afternoon Tea, we told you about the students who walked out of Mt. Nebo Middle School in Utah to protest being harassed by classmates dressed as “furries.” The school district denied any students were coming to school dressed as animals, crawling on the ground, chasing or growling at their classmates. However, The Blaze uncovered video and photos proving the district’s assertion was a lie.
Insane. Watch the videos embedded in this @theblaze article and in @cortneyweil's thread below:https://t.co/jJm9JEji7a

House Approves Another $61 Billion to Ukraine, Sends $0 to U.S. Border
There are people rotting in a DC prison because they walked into the House chamber on January 6 waving American flags. Democrats call those people insurrectionists. Meanwhile, there were people on the House floor Saturday waving Ukrainian flags. Democrats call those people “Members of Congress.”

The House has voted to send another $61 billion in aid to Ukraine. Said Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-WV), “Some say, ‘Well, we have to deal with our border first.’ The Ukrainian Russian border is OUR border!”
“The Ukraine-Russian border is our border”? No, its not; and our border didn’t get a red cent.
New House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) got the funding passed despite strong opposition from many members on the right and despite past promises to not okay Ukraine funding unless our border was taken care of first.

It’s fitting that the bill passed on April 20; you’d have to be high to think the American people are on board with Congress neglecting our border while shoveling billions more to Ukraine.
You certainly have to be on drugs for this to make sense: We’re giving billions of dollars to Ukraine to ward off the evil Russian invasion. Putin is an existential threat to the West. We have to stop him in Ukraine or soon he’ll be riding bare-chested down Pennsylvania Avenue. It’s a war for democracy’s survival! If you’re not on board with doing everything possible to stop Russia, you are a Putin apologist!
Except last month the Financial Times reported the White House is telling Ukraine to halt attacks on Russian oil refineries. You know, the thing that helps Putin literally and figuratively fuel his war.

Did you read John’s Zmirak’s review of Let My People Go? If that didn’t inspire you to catch the movie on Rumble, let me double down. This is one gripping, harrowing — at times humorous — look at the rigging of the 2020 election, the trauma of those proud, nonviolent Americans tossed into the DC dungeon for J6, and one man, powered by his faith, who sacrificed his career to try to make things right. Good stuff.
