Happy Thursday!
We raise today’s Brew to the Pennsylvania state police and border patrol.
Got Him! Escaped Murderer and Illegal Immigrant Danelo Cavalcante Captured
After nearly two weeks on the run, escaped murderer and illegal immigrant Danelo Cavalcante has been captured. Cavalcante had been spotted by air using thermal technology in northern Chester County overnight, and was surrounded. State and U.S. border enforcement officials made their move around 8 a.m. Wednesday, taking Cavalcante by surprise. He tried escaping through the brush, but a police dog made short work of that, subduing the killer without any officers getting injured.
Cavalcante is a bad dude, convicted of stabbing his ex-girlfriend 38 times. But he never should have been in the country. He illegally entered the U.S. while on the run for murder in Brazil.
But don’t worry. That border is totally secured now from other Cavalcantes. Sure, it is.
NEW: Video from source shows a large group of migrants crossing illegally into Lukeville, AZ last night. Per CBP sources, yesterday, Border Patrol in this Tucson, AZ sector alone apprehended over 2,000 illegal immigrants from all over globe, including 148 from Senegal. Others… pic.twitter.com/6uCPXUbijW

August saw an all-time high of illegals encountered as part of “family” groups. 91,000 in all. All told, Border Patrol apprehended or reported as evading capture at least 215,908, according to preliminary data obtained by The Center Square.
Nearly 30,000 were gotaways.
White House Sent Letter to News Organizations Requesting “Scrutiny” of House Impeachment Inquiry
As if the media really need a letter from the White House to do their bidding, but apparently Team Biden doesn’t want to take any chances when it comes to the impeachment inquiry. According to CNN, The White House sent a letter to news organizations requesting they “intensify their scrutiny of House Republicans after Speaker Kevin McCarthy launched an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, despite having found no evidence of a crime.”
The letter came from Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House Counsel’s Office. He told the media execs the impeachment inquiry “should set off alarm bells” in their newsrooms. Oh, not about the alleged crimes, but about the investigation into those crimes.
We’ll see if the response is “yes, master.” Judging from how often I’ve seen and heard the phrase “no evidence,” the past few days, it’s not looking good for fair and unbalanced coverage.
And that includes the once great Associated Press.
But first, a more bit on Sams. Sams went on national television yesterday and declared that Joe Biden took all those business meetings, dinners and phone calls with his son, his business partners and foreign clients because he “loves” his son. Just “checking in” on Hunter during a “particularly hard time.”

Funny how they make meetings that resulted in millions in cash for Biden Inc sound like dropping into a PTA meeting.
Associated Press Jumps the Shark
Back in the day, nothing was cooler for a news junkie than the clatter of the Associated Press wire in a news room. It was “THE NEWS” that was coming across that wire. Unbiased reporting on the realities of the big, wide world. Those days are gone.
On Tuesday, the Associated Press declared without shame: “Since gaining the House majority, House Republicans have aggressively investigated Biden and his son, claiming without evidence that they engaged in an influence peddling scheme. (Emphasis mine.)”

Without evidence? “Reports from Lakehurst, New Jersey, claim without evidence that the German airship Hindenburg burst into flames while docking.”
(The Federalist has a nice run down of the evidence of influence peddling that is already out there.) This head scratcher got me reflecting in an article called “’Without Evidence,’ Without Shame.”
Quick Hits From the Political World
New Hampshire’s Secretary of State with the backing of the state’s Attorney General has rebuffed efforts to keep former President Donald Trump off the 2024 GOP primary ballot. The effort was led by Republican attorney and former Senate candidate Bryant “Corky” Messner who tried using the 14th Amendment ploy to prevent voters from having their say. But Secretary of State David Scanlan said as long as Trump “submits his declaration of candidacy and signs it under the penalties of perjury, pays the $1,000 filing fee, his name will appear on the presidential primary ballot.”
Also Wednesday, Trump released his “10 Principles For Great Schools That Lead to Great Jobs.”
Pierre Delecto will be looking for a new job. Utah Senator and noted hot dog enthusiast Mitt Romney announced he will not seek re-election in 2024. In a video statement, Romney noted he’d be in his 80s by the time a new term ended, adding it was time for a “new generation” of leadership.
A Lump of Coal?
With abortion set to play a big role in the 2024 election, it’s good to keep an eye on the political jockeying. For example, the media — to say nothing of the Biden administration — has done its best to present pro-life supporters as radicals. “Pro-life” measures got stung in the 2024 election. So, as NBC News reported this week, some Republicans like Indiana Senator Todd Young are starting to use another term for the protection of the unborn: “Pro-Baby.”
What do you think of the term? Let us know at contactus@stream.flywheelstaging.com.
We know what White House press secretary Jen Psaki thinks of “pro-baby.” The MSNBC commentator mocks the “pro-baby” language and goes on to compare a baby in the womb to a lump of coal.

Stream contributor David Marshall has an intriguing one. He compares the message in the Barbie movie to the message of a classic Kipling poem. See “Whining vs. Winning: Barbie vs. Kipling.”
Final word: I am taking the next few days off. The great John Zmirak will be filling in. Hold on to your hats and have a grand weekend!
