Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is undergoing treatment for recurring cancer, Fox News reported Friday. Ginsburg, 87, is the oldest member of the Court.

In a statement Friday, Ginsburg said that a biopsy in February discovered lesions on her liver. She was treated with immunotherapy, which was unsuccessful. She began chemotherapy treatment May 19. It is “yielding positive results,” she said.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Ginsburg has dealt with cancer four previous times. In addition, she was also treated for gallstones in May and was in the hospital earlier this week for an infection. Her hospital stay this week was unrelated to her cancer treatment.

In the statement Friday, Ginsburg explained the treatment she’s been undergoing:

My most recent scan on July 7 indicated significant reduction of the liver lesions and no new disease. I am tolerating chemotherapy well and am encouraged by the success of my current treatment. I will continue biweekly chemotherapy to keep my cancer at bay, and am able to maintain an active daily routine. Throughout, I have kept up with opinion writing and all other Court work.

She added, “I have often said I would remain a member of the Court as long as I can do the job full steam. I remain fully able to do that.”
