Sunny Side of The Stream: 59th Anniversary of King’s ‘I Have a Dream’ Speech

Happy weekend! Sunday marks the 59th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Its most memorable line in my mind is:
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
A little further down in the speech King looks forward to the second coming of Jesus, with prophetic Biblical language of the Messianic reign, when Jesus will reign on earth in righteousness and remove all injustice from the world:
I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
A song released earlier this year by King’s niece Alveda King celebrates the speech:
Alveda King is an evangelist, author and pro-life advocate, but did you know she’s also a singer? Here’s another song recently published on her YouTube channel:
A Bus Driver and Bus Monitor See Children Trapped by Raging Floodwaters, Save Them With Removable Seatbelts
This story in Faithwire is so sweet because the hand of God is clear and they give Him glory for it. Two ladies working together aboard a bus for children with disabilities thought they may have wasted their time going to a house where the student didn’t show up, but then came across two children hanging on to a tree and storm waters raged around them. Their parents were trying to save them. The ladies removed seatbelts, which are used to strap in children in wheelchairs, and tied them together to reach the kids and pull them to safety. Faithwire reports:
βWe were just in the area, I was like maybe it was a waste of time,β Valentine told KDFW-TV. βBut then when we seen what we seen, I was like maybe that was God putting us there in that area for that reason.β
Rebecca and Terry Crews Share How God Saved Their Marriage
Rebecca Crews, wife of actor Terry Crews, recently told The Christian Post that after weathering the pain of husband’s infidelity and porn addiction, and through years of counseling, she deeply respects her husband.
βToday, I look at my husband, and I always say heβs a better man than me. He took hold of the Word of God, and he took hold of the Scriptures, and he just ran with all his might. He said, βGod, I don’t want to be like this anymore.β And he amazes me every day. He really is the kinder, gentler version of Terry Crews because he let God do a work in his life,β Crews shared.
Terry Crews previously discussed with ET how he and his wife battled his porn addiction together through 90-day season of abstinence, and rediscovered a childlike, innocent love.
And people were like, ‘Whoa, that’s crazy!’ But let me tell you something β what was so beautiful about that, was it took me to a time when I was 12 years old and I liked a girl and I didn’t know anything about sex. But all I did was give her a flower and say, ‘I like you for who you are.'” And it wasn’t about sex. It took us back to those moments. I felt like I was 12 years old again, because sex had been taken out of the equation and it was all about love again.
This couple is a testimony to what God can do with willing and repentant hearts.
Twitter Roundup: The Good, True, Beautiful, Cute and Funny
The cuteness here is a lot to take in. This little boy with a cane on each arm is laughing to himself with joy as he asks his dog to look at him because he is walking. This video is worth playing repeatedly and shedding a few tears over. Well, I did, anyway.

This is very smart. If we can teach dogs to do tricks, why can’t we teach them to clean up after themselves? May prove a bit more difficult in grass through.
Someone had to do it..

It’s a bit mesmerizing how much Mars looks like a desert we’d see on earth.
