Study Exposes Media Blackout on Planned Parenthood

By Amelia Hamilton Published on August 13, 2015

The media canโ€™t cover everything, so we are supposed to trust them to choose the stories that are most important, and to anticipate the story viewers will be most interested in. Unfortunately, in cases like the Planned Parenthood stories, the media have mostly decided the cover up the news rather than to report it honestly.

A recent study by the Media Research Center has found that the networks (ABC, NBC, and CBS) only spent 0.008% of their news shows on the Planned Parenthood footage. On both morning and evening news shows, that is a combined 1 minute and 13 seconds showing the videos, since the first of six videos was released. And none of that time included any controversial clips or images.

For more information, including how the networks have treated this story compared with other stories involving undercover video, check out the report at MRC’s Newsbusters.
