Speaker Pelosi, Stop Pretending to Be Faithful
Speaker Pelosi,
You are accustomed to preaching your own gospel from atop your throne of power and privilege, I know well enough. You sell your counterfeit version of Catholicism with an authoritative air, knowing the secular media will be there to publish your words with due applause and deference.
Your Own Gospel, From Atop Your Throne
You do not worry about correction or resistance from Catholic hierarchy since you know you’re unlikely to get much. You fret not about the consequences of your public scandal since you have never really suffered any repercussions for the damage you have caused.
Your remarks to Hillary Clinton recently on her “You and Me Both” podcast were intolerably smug, cruel and grotesque. Who do you think you are, Mrs. Pelosi?
I was grateful to hear your bishop remind you last week that you do not, in fact, speak for the Catholic Church, yet even his rebuke did not go far enough.
You have mocked and insulted the pro-life community in this country too many times to count during your long and highly lucrative career as a “public servant.” Your self-righteous comments to Hillary brought things to a new low.
You said of Catholic pro-life voters,
…if you reject terminating a pregnancy, you should love contraception. Again, there’s a great deal of hypocrisy here, because many of these people, of course, are not having 13 children. And as somebody who had five children almost exactly to the day in six years, I said to my colleagues, when you have five children in six years, you come around and talk to me as a Catholic.
You and your husband were truly blessed to have five children almost exactly to the day in six years. Children are a gift from the Lord, and you were generously gifted with your pregnancies and living children. How dare you use that blessing as some sort of merit badge or combat medal that proves your Catholic bona fides?
You presumptuously label Catholics who are faithful to Church teaching as hypocrites because they are not having 13 children, then use your five children in six years as proof of your superior fidelity and worthiness.
I Will Talk to You as a Catholic
My husband and I are raising four children. Do you know why we are not raising six? Because two of our children died in miscarriage. We were not blessed with more than six babies, though we would have gladly welcomed more.
I know many amazing Catholic couples who have had similar experiences of miscarriage and loss, infant death or the lonely cross of infertility. The invisible grief and heartache they bear is heavy. They may have “only” one or two children to raise though they would gladly have five children in six years or even 13 children or more.
You owe every one of them a profound apology for your arrogant, thoughtlessly cruel remarks.
You Do Not Speak for the Catholic Church
As to the “issue” of abortion, I agree with your bishop: you do not speak for the Church. You do not speak the truth. You speak in euphemisms and slogans. Deception and pandering are your methods. You heap mockery and scorn on those who want to abolish legal abortion. You said,
When you take the greed of those who want their tax cut — that’s probably a small number, but nonetheless a number — and then you take the abortion issue. And many of these people are very good people; that’s just their point of view. But they were willing to sell the whole democracy down the river for that one issue.
What you have said here is grotesque. That “one issue” is the legally sanctioned slaughter of innocent children in the womb. You know that very well, but you are too dishonest and corrupt to admit it.
You cannot hide behind “a woman has the right to choose.” It is a flimsy, Styrofoam shield that will not save you. Your sophistry will not justify your cooperation with the objectively evil act of murdering the child in the womb.
In abortion mills around this country, preborn children are strategically killed so their valuable organs and brains are kept intact and sold for greater profit. You defend this atrocity. You cooperate with this heinous butchering.
You know this is savagery; not care, not medicine, not a “right.” You know it is gravely evil. You know the blood of our children cries out to God in Heaven, and He is not deaf.
You know your actions in support of this barbarism are in total contradiction of the Faith you profess.
You Advocate Evil, Not Justice
With Joe Biden in the White House you enjoy even greater support in your apostasy, and even greater aide from the media who are only too delighted to put a “modern Catholic” label on the ancient pagan practice of sacrificing children to false gods.
You may have many worldly powers on your side for now, but you do not have right or truth on your side.
You are a liar, Madam Speaker. You advocate for evil, not justice. You cannot pervert the Catholic faith to support your betrayal. You call evil good, and you encourage others to do the same.
Stop it.
