Singers Worship God on The Voice
This season of NBC’s singing competition show The Voice concluded Tuesday night, with 16-year-old Sawyer Fredericks of upstate New York named the winner.
However, what many made this season of the show especially noteworthy is the number of Christian songs performed. Here are some of the incredible performances that glorified God, right where you’d least expect it — on network television!
Koryn Hawthorne- How Great Thou Art
Koryn Hawthorne- O Mary, Don’t You Weep.
After this performance, her coach Pharrell told her “After seeing that performance it’s like you realize that impossible is just a word because it can be done. Anything is possible when you put God first.”
Deanna Johnson- Down To the River To Pray
Meghan Linsey- Amazing Grace
Koryn Hawthorne- Bright Fire
In the finale, Koryn Hawthorne sang an original song written by her coach, Pharrell. It was a tribute to God called “Bright Fire.” As he said, the song “just feels good. It feels like sunshine, and that’s what God is to us.”
After Koryn’s performance, Pharrell summed it up best. He told the singer, “My heart is beating so fast right now, because we did it. We got to, like, sing this song in front of everybody. It’s just like the lyric says, and I thank The Voice for the platform to be able to say this, it’s just like the lyric says, He is our bright fire.”
Not only did these performances get votes from the viewers, they brought songs of praise into the homes of millions of viewers throughout the competition.
