The Democratic Party is not pro-choice. It is pro-abortion. Recent events have revealed it is now pro-infanticide.

On Wednesday, Virginia governor Ralph Northam, openly stated that he is in favor of letting infants be left to die after birth, if the mother decides she doesn’t want the baby.

The governor was asked to respond to a controversial bill proposed by a Virginia Democratic delegate that would lift existing restrictions on third trimester abortions. This bill would allow a woman to abort her baby, even if she is in active labor moments before the baby comes out. Remember, that’s the context.

Instead of rejecting such evil, he endorsed it:

When we talk about third-trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of the mother, with the consent of physicians — more than one physician, by the way — and it’s done in cases where there may be severe deformities. There may be a fetus which is non-viable. So in this particular example, if the mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if this is what the mother and the family desired. And then a discussion would ensue between the physician and the mother.

There you have it.

A Democratic governor, a supposed moderate, supports the idea that a fully-formed human baby, who has already been delivered, can be murdered outside of the womb. Murdered at the whim of her mother and physician. As if supporting the barbaric practice of third-trimester abortion isn’t bad enough, Democrats are now advocating outright infanticide.

He defends infanticide by saying that it “may” happen in cases when the baby has “severe deformities” or is non-viable. What difference does that make? It’s a human baby.

“Government Shouldn’t Get Involved”

The problem arises, he says, when the government gets involved. “We want the government not to be involved in these types of decisions. We want the decision to be made by the mothers and their providers,” he said. “Legislators, most of whom are men, by the way, shouldn’t be telling a woman what she should and shouldn’t be doing with her body.”

Seriously? The baby is a separate body with separate DNA. And at that point, the baby is literally outside of the mother’s body.

No, governor, this is just when the government should get involved. The murder of innocent babies, in or out of the womb, should not be endorsed by our laws. Mothers, fathers, and doctors should not be given the license to kill babies. The people, and those who make up the government, should not sit idly by when governors like Ralph Northam advocate abortion up to birth and infanticide.

Democrats Don’t Take Their Own Advice

Furthermore, the Democrats are the ones using the government to push their extreme pro-abortion agenda on the people. A lot of them are men, might I add. Not satisfied with leaving our laws as is, they are aggressively expanding abortion rights. New York just passed its hideous Reproductive Health Act, legalizing abortion up to birth. New York Democrats celebrated with applause and cheers in the state legislature. Governor Andrew Cuomo lit up the Freedom Tower pink to celebrate their “victory.” Democrats in Rhode Island want to follow suit with a bill that repeals the existing ban on partial-birth abortion.

Fringe Views or Mainstream?

If you think these are isolated incidences, you would be mistaken. Governor Northam is not out of step with the rest of the Democratic Party. These are not fringe views — he is merely being honest about his party’s extreme pro-abortion agenda.

Make no mistake, the Democratic Party wants legislation like New York’s Reproductive Health Act and the bill proposed by Virginia Democrats adopted by every state. Some states are ahead of the game. Abortion is already legal through all nine months of pregnancy in Colorado, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington D.C.

According to Democrats, abortion should no longer be “safe, legal, and rare,” as they used to say. Abortion should be “safe, legal, and accessible.” That is, fully funded by taxpayer money, with forced participation by all healthcare providers. That is where the Democratic Party is headed.

If we tolerate this, we too will be culpable. We must resist it with every legal means at our disposal.
