Biden speaks to dead foreign leaders and blows off the Super Bowl as polls collapse around him, and Nevada voters cast their ballots this week in both a primary and a caucus. We’re 273 days away from Election Day, and we are Resolute.

BREAKING: Court of Appeals Rejects Trump Claim for Immunity. Does This Put J6 Case Back on Track?

According to the polling — and Democratic strategists talking to the Washington Post — Biden’s best chance in the election is for Trump to be convicted and sentenced in one of the cases brought by Biden’s own Justice Department. (How convenient for Biden is that?) The J6 case was pulled off the docket last week, which has liberal pundits losing their minds. “I am officially now at the freakout stage,” Obama acting U.S. Solicitor General Neal Katyal told MSNBC Sunday. 

Judge Tanya Chutkan suggested Monday the case might not be heard until August or later. However, a Federal Court of Appeals has just ruled within the hour that former President Trump is not immune from prosecution in the federal election case. Trump is expected to appeal to the Supreme Court, so depending on whether they take the case or not, Smith’s case could get back on track and make Katyal’s day sooner rather than later. 

Nevada Primary Today, Caucus Thursday

Polls are open in Nevada for the 2024 Democratic and Republican Primaries. And while there is a primary today, Nevada Republicans are also holding a caucus Thursday, which is where delegates will actually be awarded. Trump isn’t even taking part in the primary. Confusing? CBS News can help you sort it out. The end result is Trump is expected to clean up all the delegates in the caucus, while Nikki Haley will likely claim a moral victory in the primary.

Meanwhile, the former South Carolina governor has asked for Secret Service protection. In addition to two swatting incidents, she’s seen an increase in protests at her events since becoming Trump’s final challenger.

Will it be granted? Biden refuses to grant Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., protection, despite actual attempts to attack him and his family’s history of being attacked. Haley will likely be granted the protection, if only because it reinforces Biden’s campaign theme that Trump and his supporters are dangerous.

We pray for the safety of all candidates in this overheated political season.

Grim Polling for President

A presidency “in peril, declined in every measure” that’s how NBC described their new polling that gives Joe Biden a record-low 37% approval rate. That’s a steep hole for Biden to climb out of in less than 9 months.

The polling shows Biden support collapsing across the board and Trump rising with voting groups that traditionally vote Democratic. We’re talking young people, Blacks and Hispanics. In fact, Trump is now actually leading among Latinos.

Over all, Trump now leads Biden by five points nationally, 47% to 42% (almost outside the margin of “cheat,” some might say.) More crucially, Trump is stomping Biden on the issues, from immigration to the economy to crime to competency, in some categories by as much as 30 points. Meaning, if Trump sticks to issues, and keeps the Queens Construction Guy mouth to a minimum, his fortunes can only improve.

So why is Biden hemorrhaging support among Black voters? Can’t possibly be anger over crime, illegal immigration, or as someone in a black focus group told MSNBC, “We’re broke with Biden, we weren’t with Trump … with Trump, we had money.” You know, “It’s the economy, stupid.” No, according to Democrats, it’s because of “disinformation.”

The first step to healing is admitting you have a problem.

There is one bright spot for Biden. His approval rate is six times higher than that of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. He’s at 6%.

The Elephant in the Room: Diminished Capacity and Nixing the Super Bowl

Even if Biden does manage to improve on the issues, he has got another problem. According to the latest Rasmussen Reports survey, 59% of voters believe Biden is “getting less and less mentally sharp over time.” 

Two new stories point to both the problem and efforts to hide it. During a recent speech in Nevada Biden recounted speaking to French President Francois Mitterrand shortly after taking office. Thing is, Mitterrand has been dead since 1996.

Meanwhile, Biden has turned down the chance to do the traditional presidential Super Bowl interview. In front of the biggest audience of the year. In an election year. On a network, CBS, that’s toughest question would be “Do you think Travis is going to pop the question to Taylor today?”

If you are incapable of doing that interview, how in the world can you serve as Commander-in-Chief? While one may dismiss his nixing the Super Bowl, did you notice Biden did not give a speech to announce and explain last week’s retaliatory attacks against Iranian-backed militias? Traditionally, when America starts blowing something up or takes out bad guys, the President of the United States comes before the nation and the world.  

Incidentally, after Biden turned down the Super Bowl, Trump offered to fill in. “RATINGS GOLD,” he assured CBS.
