The vast majority of voters want the Republican Party to stand behind nominee Donald Trump after Trump’s 2005 comments about women, according to a Politico/Morning Consult instant poll published Sunday.

Seventy-four percent of all registered voters reported a negative reaction to the comments, which includes 47 percent of voters who rated their perception of Trump as “very negative.” Eight percent of voters said they had a more positive view of Trump after watching the comments.

Democrats were much more condemning of the comments, with 70 percent of Democrats reported they felt Trump should drop out of the race, compared to only 12 percent of Republicans who felt the same way.

Coincidentally, Trump normally only draws 80 to 90 percent support among Republicans in polls, which indicates that Trump’s latest published comments did little to actually move the needle in either direction for the Republican nominee.

“As soon as the news broke, we designed a survey that not only tested voter opinion on Trump’s comments, but also allowed more than 1,500 voters to react in real time to the video and his apology,” Morning Consult co-founder Kyle Dropp wrote in the accompanying statement. “The results show that nearly all voters have heard about the video and most rate it negatively, but Trump’s supporters are not abandoning him right away.”

Trump trailed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in the poll, earning only 38 percent compared to Clinton’s 42 percent support in the four-way race. Libertarian Gary Johnson earned 8 percent, and Green Party Jill Stein earned 3 percent, with 9 percent of voters abstaining in the poll.

The entire poll took place Saturday, the day after The Washington Post published the story outlining Trump’s comments. Morning Consult surveyed 1390 likely voters, for a margin of error of 3 percentage points in either direction.
