This is Part 11 of a 14-part series on how to confront leftist indoctrination in your child’s school. If you want to be part of the parental revolution, this series will help you learn how to reorient school systems back toward biblical ethics to ensure our kids can safely learn, grow, and be nurtured in environments that prioritize knowledge over dogma, truth over lies, and virtue over vice.

Flipping your school board is the final action required to enact the policies and changes necessary to protect your children. This means a school board has moved from being resistant to your concerns to being outright hostile.

When that occurs, you have only one recourse: Fire the board members. 

Ideally, this means you actively run to replace a board member. However, this does not necessarily have to be the case. Sometimes, members of the community who are well-positioned to challenge those in authority may be part of your broader support network, or they publicly side with you and have the resources to step up to the plate.

The good news is that if you have made an impact through engagement and pressure campaigns, then you may be well-positioned to garner the necessary local support to step into the political arena. Before you or someone else in your network launches a campaign, though, ask the following four questions: 

• Why am I running for office? 
• When am I seeking election? 
• How will I get resources, campaign funding, volunteers, time, etc.? 
• Who will vote for me, volunteer, donate, and how do I get more support?

If you can answer those questions relatively easily, you should continue moving forward with your campaign.

Tips for Flipping Your School Board

1. Build name recognition. Make it a point to involve your church, your social network, and your friends in the fight against the board. Use every resource (social media, local newspapers and TV stations, and community events) to ensure people know who you are.
2. Make your activism your candidacy. The fight to stop radical ideologies in the classroom must be the foundation of your candidacy.
3. Specify how you will improve the board. Condition your candidacy for the implementation of specific policies and opposition to extreme ideologies. State concrete changes you will make if elected.
4. Recruit others to the cause. If you can find others willing to run on your slate, do it! The more parents who step forward, the better. There is strength in numbers.
5. Use your network. Tap into your local community for the financial support and resources you may need to run a successful campaign.
6. Nominate another parent. If you decide to run for office, always assume you will succeed, and nominate someone else to replace you as a leader in your network. 
7. Remember, it’s about the kids. Always emphasize the fact that protecting of kids is the central motivating factor for your campaign. Not only is it true, but it will keep your candidacy grounded and your purpose clear.

Use organized materials from public records to articulate why you should replace the current school board member. This can be anything from his or her comments supporting CRT, silencing concerned parents during a meeting, refusing to remove sexually explicit material from the school library, or actively ignoring you.

All of this should be packaged in a campaign message that categorizes the school board member as someone who is outright hostile to you or indifferent to protecting children from these radical ideologies.

Principles Before Principals

The first principle of a school board run is protecting kids from the destructive and harmful ideologies the school system is pushing.  

The second is stopping woke radicals from turning our kids into militant neo-Marxist activists seeking to tear down everything good in their lives and in our society. 

The third is purging sexually inappropriate and explicit content from school libraries and curricula that is often used to groom children into carrying out the desires of deviant adults. 

The fourth is acting as a voice for the hardworking parents, guardians, and citizens in your community who desperately want their children to receive a good education.

The fifth and final principle is committing to improving educational outcomes with an emphasis on best practices and policies to develop proficiency in math, science, language, and civics.

Anyone running for school board should internalize these five principles and make clear to the electorate that these are the things that will guide you while serving on the board. However, you should ask a series of questions before officially challenging anyone currently on the board.

Meeting the Viability Criteria

Before you fully commit to throwing your hat in the political arena, you must determine whether flipping the board is the best course of action. Ask yourself:

1. Do people in the community generally know about the problems on the board? If yes, consider running.
2. Do I have a relatively strong name recognition and base of support? If yes, consider running.
3. Is the school board member I’m running against vulnerable in an election? If yes, consider running.
4. Has there been increased interest and concern in the community at school board meetings over specific issues? If yes, consider running.
5. Do I have the ability to raise the resources necessary to run for the school board? If yes, consider running.
6. Will I be able to implement the changes needed or, at a minimum, severely curb the radical ideologies and practices in the school system? If yes, stop considering whether to run. JUST RUN!

Be the change agent that can protect your children!

Remember that as elected representatives, school board members have the ability to implement policies that can change their communities for the better. Local and municipal election filing is often a separate process from state or federal candidate filings with different forms and rules. Make sure you check with your registrar’s office and your local officials to understand the criteria and calendar for running for local office.
