Protect the Children Part 2: How Schools Are Indoctrinating Your Kids with Pornographic Books

Many of America’s public schools now operate more like woke training camps than centers of learning.

This is Part 2 of a 14-part series on how to confront leftist indoctrination in your child’s school. If you want to be part of the parental revolution, this series will help you learn how to reorient school systems back toward biblical ethics to ensure our kids can safely learn, grow, and be nurtured in environments that prioritize knowledge over dogma, truth over lies, and virtue over vice.

Decades of secularization and the incremental advance of radical neo-Marxist concepts on race, gender, and society have metastasized into a cancerous environment filled with progressive activists masquerading as teachers or sitting smugly as elected school board officials. In many parts of the nation, America’s schools now operate more like woke training camps than centers of learning.

The full scope of this ideological capture came into focus as parents and their children were forced into remote learning environments during the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in greater exposure to the content being taught. It was this awakening that laid the groundwork for the initial righteous blow back that so many school boards and school systems have since received.

The Indoctrination

Below is just a small sampling of the type of perverse material and concepts being actively pushed on impressionable children in America’s schools over the past few years.

  • In North Carolina, an Asheville middle school kept sexually explicit pornographic books in its library, including It’s Perfectly Normal, which displays graphic cartoon depictions of sex acts between gay men and gay women.
  • In Pennsylvania, a Lancaster high school library made the book Identical available to its students over parents’ objections. The book contains graphic descriptions of incest, rape, and violent sexual assault.
  • In Colorado, a Steamboat Springs high school teacher taught a lesson on the poem “Howl,” which contains lewd language describing graphic sex acts. The teacher also made students analyze a song that talked about “sexting” teenagers for sexual favors.
  • In Maryland, a Bethesda middle school teacher bragged about indoctrinating her young students with Marxist literature, discussed how revolutions necessitate violence, and published a video in which she said, “We can skip the math, skip the science … like we’ll do that next year. Maybe this year we focus on teaching our youth how to be antiracist.”
  • In Florida, an elementary school teacher forced white children to serve their black classmates as slaves to protest efforts to ban Critical Race Theory from the classroom.
  • In Wisconsin, the Milwaukee public school system distributed a memo to administrators to focus on “decentering” and “dismantling” whiteness as part of its “antiracism” initiatives inspired by well-known CRT propagandists Ibram X. Kendi and Robin DiAngelo.
  • In Nevada, a Las Vegas charter school forced its students to evaluate their skin color, sexual orientation, and gender to determine if their identity aligns with someone who is “privileged” or someone who is “oppressed.”
  • In Massachusetts, a first-grade teacher at a charter school in Boston instructed students from kindergartners through second grade over Zoom that he is transgender and that when a baby is born, doctors “make a guess about whether the baby is a boy or a girl.”
  • In California, an early childhood teacher in Sacramento encouraged other teachers to follow her example and use the “gender unicorn” model on children as young as three and four to facilitate “positive strategies to support transgender and gender non-conforming children.”
  • In Texas, an Austin elementary school held a pride parade for students between kindergarten and fifth grade, instructing them to hide the event from their parents and the broader community with a reminder that “what we say in this room stays in this room.”
  • In Alabama, an Auburn music teacher at a middle school openly served as the president of an LGBTQ organization that puts on “family-friendly” drag shows intentionally aimed at indoctrinating little children.

Not Isolated Incidents

These are not isolated incidents. Teachers and school officials often have organizational backing and cover for their ideological agendas. The National Education Association (NEA), which is the nation’s largest labor union, officially recommends that its unionized teachers have elementary school children provide their “preferred pronouns” to “promote a more inclusive and supportive environment for LGBTQ students in our schools.”

In Illinois, the state board of education promotes guidance encouraging school officials to hide a child’s alleged “gender identity” and “sexual orientation” from his or her parents. In California, the state board of education mandates every school enact a DEI curriculum, which views everything through the intersectional lens of race and oppression. In Michigan, the state board of education specifically calls for every school to include LGBTQ books in libraries while designating a specific teacher or staffer to serve as a confidant for LGBTQ students.

Schools Under Siege

All of this sits against the backdrop of increasing rates of adult school officials sexually preying on vulnerable children. A 2017 report from the U.S. Department of Education estimated that nearly one in ten students is subjected to some form of adult sexual misconduct from school officials or teachers during their K-12 academic career. The report defines such conduct as anything ranging from making an inappropriate comment to engaging in sexual assault. To put that into perspective, there are roughly fifty million kids in America’s public schools. This means that nearly five million children will experience some form of adult sexual misconduct before they graduate from high school.

America’s schools are under siege by bureaucrats and activists who worship at the altar of their woke religion. These adult ideologues see children primarily as tools to advance their godless, neo-Marxist agenda or as instruments to affirm their sexual deviances instead of unique and precious children of God in need of instruction and nurturing. After decades of marching through our institutions, these radicals now have a firm grip on the entire system. If the last three years have made anything clear, they will not relinquish their power and control without a knockdown fight.
