Pro-Abortion Staffer at Purdue Calls for the Rape of Pro-Life Students
This wasn't a gaffe. And Purdue is now investigating.
An employee at Purdue University appears to have called for the rape of pro-life women and the female relatives of pro-life men. In a statement obtained by Campus Reform, Purdue University said it is investigating the comments left by “jamiegnewman.”
Last week, the Purdue Students for Life group hung posters drawing attention to the high rate of abortion in the black community. The campus was in an uproar, with one Purdue staff member particularly set off. Jamie Newman is a composer and accompanist on staff at the university who wrote a long Facebook comment haranguing the pro-life student group, remarking on a story from Live Action News and calling for the rape of pro-life women:
Since the story broke, reporters from Campus Reform tried reaching out to Newman, who then listed his Facebook account as “private.” The Stream has been unable to reach Newman for comment.
“This is intolerable behavior, period,” said Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America. “Purdue must terminate their relationship with Mr. Newman now. For the past week, our students have been called ‘racists,’ ‘human garbage,’ and ‘ignorant c***s.’ They have courageously stood their ground and have met with black students who were offended by their educational display to explain their event and ask for help for future events. But now the safety of our students has been put into risk. Purdue cannot let a staff member publicly call for the rape of their students no matter how unpopular their speech.”
