‘Pray for Me’: Justin Bieber Reveals He is ‘Struggling’
The pop artist asked his fans to pray for him.
Singer Justin Bieber revealed on social media recently that he is “struggling a lot,” and asked his fans for prayers. “Just wanted to keep you guys updated a little bit hopefully what I’m going through will resonate with you guys,” he wrote in a Sunday Instagram post. “Been struggling a lot. Just feeling super disconnected and weird. I always bounce back so I’m not worried just wanted to reach out and ask for your [sic] guys to pray for me. God is faithful and ur prayers really work thanks. The most human season I’ve ever been facing my stuff head on.”
Justin didn’t share what he’s struggling with, but last month he told Vogue that he had depression while he was touring for his 2017 album “Purpose.” After he’d performed 150 concerts over 16 months, he abruptly canceled the final 14 shows. “I got really depressed on tour. I haven’t talked about this, and I’m still processing so much stuff that I haven’t talked about. I was lonely. I needed some time.”
‘It Got Pretty Dark’
He also shared with the magazine that he abused medication to dull his shame. “I found myself doing things that I was so ashamed of, being super-promiscuous and stuff, and I think I used Xanax because I was so ashamed. My mom always said to treat women with respect. For me that was always in my head while I was doing it, so I could never enjoy it. Drugs put a screen between me and what I was doing. It got pretty dark.”
Last year he took a break from singing. “I just needed some time to evaluate myself: who I am, what I want out of my life, my relationships, who I want to be — stuff that when you’re so immersed in the music business you kind of lose sight of.”
His new wife, Hailey Baldwin, says she’s proud of how far Justin has come. “I’m really proud of him. To do it without a program, and to stick with it without a sober coach or AA or classes — I think it’s extraordinary. He is, in ways, a walking miracle.”
Please pray for Justin as he leans on God to walk through a difficult time.
