Planned Parenthood Gets Ready for Transgender Healthcare Market

By Austin Roscoe Published on May 6, 2016

Planned Parenthood isn’t just about “planning” your parenthood anymore — now they’re about “planning” your gender identity, too.

With younger generations leaning more pro-life and recent backlash over the company’s profits from aborted baby body parts, Planned Parenthood is losing its base. What is growing, however, is the LGBT movement.

Over the past few years, the company has begun to offer hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for transgendered individuals, despite the many risks associated with such treatments. Moreover, the company offers these services based on an “informed-consent model.”

As Fox News reports, “According to the Standards of Care manual designed by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, anyone seeking a change should first be examined by a mental health professional to ‘assess clients’ gender dysphoria.'”

Despite such warnings, there are currently 32 Planned Parenthood locations across 10 states that offer the treatment. The company does not currently offer gender-reassignment surgery.
