ALAN EASON — In winter 2012, the book Indivisible was published and quickly became a bestseller. Written by evangelical James Robison and Catholic Jay Richards, it was endorsed by Governor Mike Huckabee and many other national leaders. The introduction to the book, entitled “Where Were You When Freedom Died?” begins with a quote from C.S. Lewis, written during the dark years of World War II. Even then, the Oxford professor and atheist-turned-Christian could discern the darkening nature of the conflict growing in the modern world:

Now is our chance to choose the right side. God is holding back to give us that chance. It won’t last forever. We must take it or leave it. (Mere Christianity)

Today, many of us are again concerned about the trajectory of our country and of the world. Christians particularly are alarmed by assaults on human life, marriage, religious and economic freedom.

Yes, some people are starting to wake up and see the peril. This has led some into despair. Individuals and churches are divided over what should be done. Others are hiding their heads in the sand. That’s the wrong response. Instead, we need to ask, “How do we rebuild the walls?”

Indivisible explains how we can rebuild our civilization based on solid, time-tested principles. Robison and Richards continue their collaboration to champion these principles, joining with many other concerned thinkers — evangelical, Catholic, Orthodox and Jewish. The result of that collaboration is The Stream.

The ultimate hope lies in each of us allowing God to use us as salt and light — and it requires you to take a stand.
