U.S. military service members salute as firefighters and rescue workers unfurl an American flag over the side of the damaged Pentagon during 9/11 rescue and recovery efforts on September 12, 2001.

Today and every day, we honor the victims and family members of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. While 23 years have passed, their memories will live forever in the hearts and prayers of millions of Americans.

“Time is passing. Yet, for the United States of America, there will be no forgetting September the 11th. We will remember every rescuer who died in honor. We will remember every family that lives in grief. We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of the children.” — President George W. Bush, November 11, 2001.
