Military Photo of the Day: USS Arizona Explodes at Pearl Harbor

By Tom Sileo Published on December 7, 2016

The forward magazines of the U.S. Navy battleship USS Arizona explode during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941.

Seventy-five years ago today, 2,403 Americans were killed and more than a thousand wounded during a sneak attack on our country. In the years to follow, the Greatest Generation not only avenged the assault, but liberated the Pacific, Europe and the world from tyranny. On Pearl Harbor Day and every day, we salute the sacrifices of our nation’s World War II veterans.
