Military Photo of the Day: Navy SEALs Kill Osama bin Laden

By Tom Sileo Published on May 1, 2015

As the month of May dawned in 2011, U.S. Navy SEALs changed the world by killing Osama bin Laden. The world’s most wanted man was shot and killed at his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, ending an exhaustive, worldwide search for the terrorist responsible for the deaths of countless innocent people around the world, including nearly 3,000 Americans on Sept. 11, 2001.

I recently visited the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York. Every American should plan a trip to this compelling, momentous tribute to the victims of the deadliest terrorist attack in American history.

This shirt was worn by Robert O’Neill, who was on the SEAL Team Six raid to kill Osama bin Laden. He recently donated his shirt to the museum.

Thank you to Robert O’Neill, his fellow Navy SEALs and every single U.S. service member, veteran and military family member who has stepped forward to serve our country, before and after 9/11. Because of you, we are free.
