March for Life Announces Theme for 2018: Love Saves Lives
The March for Life organization announced its theme for 2018’s event, which President Jeanne Mancini hopes will inspire and educate pro-lifers everywhere.
In an interview with The Stream, Mancini said that the theme for March for Life 2018 is “Love Saves Lives.” March for Life, taking place in three weeks, is the largest human rights demonstration in America. It brings hundreds of grassroots pro-life groups together, she added.
One past March theme was “Adoption: A Noble Decision,” highlighting the beauty of adoption. Adoptions of infants in the U.S. number around 20,000 while abortions number around a million, said Mancini. This year’s theme highlights love as a life-saving measure.
Real World, Real Love
Mancini pointed to three real world examples of love saving lives:
- Moms and dads who adopt kids out of foster care.
- People who volunteer to help support women facing an unexpected pregnancy. And
- People who staff and run pro-life pregnancy centers. “Love is really their DNA,” Mancini noted. “Their centers are largely staffed by volunteers. They’re supporting women in crisis and need,” she added.
This year’s March for Life happens on January 19, 2018 in Washington, D.C. According to their website, “the March for Life Rally will take place at noon at 12th St. on the National Mall, in between Madison Drive and Jefferson Drive. Following the Rally, the March will begin on Constitution Avenue between 12th and 14th Streets at approximately 1:00 pm.”
“We anticipate enormous crowds,” she said. And it’s not just moms and dads participating. “Demographics continue to get younger and younger. They call themselves the “pro-life generation.”
This year’s speakers will include NFL/MLB star Tim Tebowโs mother Pam Tebow, former NFL player Matt Birk and his wife Adrianna, U.S. Representatives Dan Lipinski (D-IL) and Chris Smith (R-NJ), and Sisters of Lifeโs Sr. Bethany Madonna. Christian artist Plumb is also scheduled to sing. Mancini said she expects an “inspiring, encouraging and refreshing line up,” much like last year. “Last year we were delighted to include for the first time ever a current Vice President of the United States.”
People can help by organizing groups and families for a trip to D.C. “We have a toolkit on our website that will help them plan their trip,” Mancini said.
