Love in the Ruins: What We Learned From the Time of Trumples
Like most of you, I feel kind of flattened and numb. To those ever-helpful NeverTrumper social climbing Christians, I’ll make it crystal clear: This is nothing like what the Apostles felt on Good Friday and Holy Saturday. M’kay? But thanks for asking.
No it’s more like what the French felt in June 1940, as the German tanks rolled down the Champs Elysees into Paris, while beaten French soldiers marched with their hands in the air. Watching your country subjected to hateful, wicked ideas implemented by vicious cynics: Not fun at all.
The Purge Begins
Too much you say? Is it wrong to compare the opposing party’s leader and his team to a foreign, occupying army besotted by wicked, hateful ideas? I didn’t make the rule that we should do that. The Democrats did, when they called Trump and his followers fascists and dubbed themselves the Resistance, four years ago. But we must play by the rules in place, not the ones we might vaguely wish prevailed.
And we know what the Communist wing of the Resistance did after D-Day. It purged the country. Prominent, real collaborators got public trials (and some, like François Mitterand, got off scot free). But thousands of perfectly innocent, patriotic French conservatives were opportunistically murdered by Communists, under the rubric of “purification.”
As Bidenism sinks in, look for careers to be ended, companies ruined, pro-life and other conservative organizations designated as hate groups, and faithful Christians targeted as “terrorism” threats.
A Sobering Mosaic
That said, I don’t have an organized series of thoughts sufficient to predict what’s in store for us all. Instead, I present a mosaic, little tiles of clarity that have come to me in recent weeks. I think that will be more useful than some premature theory of What It All Means, when in fact it has just begun. And unless we demand reforms en masse, voter fraud will keep it going on for generations to come.
Everybody Knows
Everybody in media knows that the Biden family is crooked. They all had to read the facts of the Hunter Biden laptop, if only to craft their unconvincing dismissals. Everybody in the intel community knows that Hunter’s bribes from China weren’t “Russian disinformation,” but real. Everybody in the FBI, and the CIA, and in Congress, knows that the FBI kept that laptop intel from Trump. This even though it was evidence that would have proven his innocence during his first impeachment trial. So as a defendant (much less as president) he had a legal right to it.
Instead of “Hail to the Chief,” the first music played for President Biden should have been this Leonard Cohen song:
Everybody knows that the dice are loaded.
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed.
Everybody knows that the war is over.
Everybody knows the good guys lost.
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich. That’s how it goes.
Everybody knows.Everybody knows that the boat is leaking.
Everybody knows that the captain lied.
Everybody got this broken feeling.
Like their father or their dog just diedEverybody talking to their pockets.
Everybody wants a box of chocolates.
And a long stem rose.
Everybody knows.
So the media and the Deep State conspired to keep vital, game-changing information about Joe Biden from the public and the president. They know they have colluded in an historic lie, as if they’d spun Chappaquiddick to make Teddy Kennedy look like a hero. They’re co-conspirators now, fully aware of exactly what they did.
How do you run a country like that? Will this low point of cynicism in journalism and government be the new high-water mark? The Hive got away with this. Can we expect things to just spiral down as it gets more emboldened, till America’s just as corrupt as Nigeria or Byelorus? And nobody rebels, because … everybody knows?
Nobody Paid
Currently, the FBI and the media are trying to criminalize support for Donald Trump’s challenge of the 2020 election results and procedures. But being a criminal is different in America, depending on whether or not you belong to The Hive. Those outside The Hive get prosecuted, even when they’re innocent: See Kyle Rittenhouse, Mark and Patricia McCloskey, Jake Gardner, Carter Page, George Papadopoulos and Mike Flynn. Or killed, like Ashli Babbitt.
Once Trump dodged the Russia Collusion bullet, he seemed to lose interest in Deep State crimes. But stopping a deeply politicized secret police that engages in partisan witch hunts wasn’t just about him. By leaving the Deep State in place, he left us all in danger.
Those sticky from The Hive’s own honeypots stand above the law. Look up all those “released without bail” rioters and arsonists of Antifa and Black Lives Matter. They serve The Hive, and nothing will happen to them, whatever they did. Others who broke laws, abused power, or lied under oath, and walked away unscathed — or even rewarded — include (this is far from a comprehensive list):
- Hillary Clinton.
- Senator Dianne Feinstein.
- Rep. Eric Swalwell.
- Christine Blasey Ford.
- Julie Swetnik.
- Peter Strozk.
- James Comey.
- Hunter Biden.
Even worse were the blue-state governors who committed negligent homicide against nursing home patients by dumping COVID patients in their midst. Or imprisoned and tyrannized the residents of their states, in violation of their state and the US Constitutions.
They all got off scot-free, like whites who terrorized blacks in the Jim Crow south, or Muslims who terrorize Christians in Pakistan today.
Trump Let Us Down
I disagree with many of the judgment calls President Trump made in office. Such as leaving in place as House Speaker Paul Ryan, and hence squandering the whole first half of his term. Thanks to Ryan and McConnell, Trump endured all the vitriol once aimed at Richard Nixon, while governing a lot like … George H.W. Bush.
I wonder why Trump hired his enemies instead of his allies to surround him — making all four years a black comedy of leaks, coup attempts, and back-stabbing.
Given all that the media and his own underlings did to savage Trump, and all the vicious lies casually told about him, I don’t want to dwell on Trump’s own imperfections. I’m grateful for the good he did, and tried to do.
But he has on his conscience one very big blunder that will haunt us for years to come. And it leaves me, frankly, bitter.
The Deep State, Completely Unscathed
Once it was clear that the FBI had colluded with his political enemies to imprison his innocent friends and drive him out of office, why in the name of all that is decent didn’t Trump clean house? Why leave in place high-ranking members of The Hive like Christopher Wray and Gina Haspel?
For that matter, why did Trump abandon his campaign promise regarding Hillary Clinton to “lock her up” or at least expose her? Why pretend that the Clintons were “good people” whom he didn’t “want to hurt”?
Once Trump dodged the Russia Collusion bullet, he seemed to lose interest in Deep State crimes. But stopping a deeply politicized secret police that engages in partisan witch hunts wasn’t just about him. By leaving the criminal hacks who cooked up such persecutions in place, Trump endangered all of us — especially his vocal supporters.
There is no one in Iran, or Red China, or ISIS, or anywhere on earth who is as dangerous to Americans as the denizens of the Deep State. By failing to clean them out by any legal means necessary — abolishing the FBI if need be, and starting a new agency from scratch — Trump failed us all.
And that’s why I hope he goes off and starts a TV network, instead of running again. Trump was a brilliant political leader and campaigner. His list of accomplishments is long enough to choke a horse. But he neglected to solve the most crucial issue that faces every American: The abuse of law by a secret police and complicit media, which collude to destroy people’s lives.
Wanted: A Leader with Follow-Through
We need the populist movement Trump patriotically started. We need to hunt to extinction the RINOs of the NeverTrump sorority of Beta Dogma Stigma, in upcoming GOP primaries. We need to deepen and broaden a coalition based on real, wholesome Christian Nationalism.
But first we need a leader who will carry through to the end, and dismantle brick by brick the crooked law enforcement cartel that threatens us all.
After that, he can work on winning trade deals, fixing immigration, and brokering peace in the Middle East. None of that means a thing if our very own KGB runs rampant. That’s the enemy inside the gates.
