Louisiana is one of the most pro-life states in America. The Southern Poverty Law Center even has a section specifically on “hateful” Louisiana and its “extremist” legislation protecting human life.
That’s, in part, thanks to Kathleen Benfield, the legislative director of the Louisiana Family Forum. Pro-life activists in other states should learn from her successes in the bills she’s helped pass and others she’s helped block. One bill made it a crime to poison a woman with abortion-inducing drugs. It’s also now illegal to get these drugs by mail order or buy them out of someone’s car trunk.
