This Houston Dad Playing Piano in His Flooded Living Room Will Hurt Your Heart

By Published on September 1, 2017

When Aric Harding returned to his flooded Houston, Texas, home to pick up some supplies, he stopped to play the piano that was sitting in knee-high water in his flooded living room.

Harding’s 13-year-old son, himself a piano student, was concerned that the piano would be ruined, so Harding took a moment to play the piano — and then posted a video of the eerie scene that quickly went viral.

“I wanted him to know that it was OK, and we’d fix it. The video turned out to be something that really connected with people, I’m glad I took the time to encourage my son and it spilled over into other lives,” Harding told ABC News.

Harding had returned to his home Wednesday to pick up his children’s favorite stuffed animals and some games to keep the kids occupied while waiting for the flooding to subside.

“I think it’s all finally sinking in a little. What we used to have going as a city is gone,” Harding said in his Instagram post before looking to the future. “I really think God is going to do something completely new here. I am excited to see the new beauty in the suffering.”
