God’s Love Is Bringing Discipline and Correction

By Wanda Alger Published on May 15, 2025

In this eight-minute video, Andrew Whalen, founder of Vanquish Prophetic Warriors, joins Wanda Alger to reveal a powerful message: God’s love doesn’t always look soft. It sometimes brings correction and confrontation. He emphasizes that speaking the truth in love means not avoiding hard facts, even when they’re uncomfortable. Drawing from Scripture and personal experience, Whalen explains that divine love can look like Jesus flipping tables in the temple. Some people need gentle correction, while others require bold confrontation — and God knows exactly how to reach each heart.

(00:01) Well, if I can add to that, um I had a dream on Good Friday. Um I woke up with a dream that I had and it was with a a really well-known um leader, prophetic voice in the body of Christ. And um I don’t actually know this individual on a personal level. Um and so and I also haven’t really followed this individual closely.

(00:32) So I really do don’t know I didn’t know why um I was having this dream but in the dream I was communicating to her um about speaking the love or I’m sorry speaking the truth in love; which obviously the scripture talks about that’s how we’re built up in Christ. We have to we have to speak truth but we’ve got to do it couched in love.

(00:54) It’s got to be in the in a heart with actual love um sincerity, you know. And so I think that’s this dream was I was communicating that whole concept with this person. I was having a whole conversation about we need to be those who speak the truth in love. And I said we cannot we cannot um forsake speaking the truth and we cannot forsake couching it in love.

(01:23) they’ve got to be together. And this person, I could tell, was really loving everything I was saying and just totally in I could feel her love for me and and all of this. But then I started to kind of go on a a specific direction in this dream and I said, you need to understand that sometimes the love of God is, brings discipline.

(01:49) Sometimes the love of God brings things that appear like harsh and correction. And I was just making this whole case for some reason with this person about the need to understand that the love of God will at times look confrontive. It will look even accusatory. Um there I just knew this in the dream. I was just going off and I could tell that this person um like was hearing me but was starting to get uncomfortable with it.

(02:24) And so then I woke up from the dream and I just I think God was trying to let me in on something to say that even even right now with everything happening there’s this there’s the understanding we need to know yes God wants us to speak the truth in love but we need to have a greater um maybe understanding that love what is love.

(02:55) You know what is love and what isn’t love and love doesn’t only I’ll say it this way if we are tolerating Jezebel that’s not love you know so sometimes when the Lord is confrontive um sometimes you here’s another thing you need to ask was was Jesus entering the temple with a whip and turning over tables it that you probably could not put that in the category of love.

(03:30) And yet we know because God is love, he doesn’t do anything outside of a pure love. And so I believe I believe that so much of what is happening in the the confrontive nature of the Lord even through individuals that may not even be doing it perfectly. In fact may I don’t you know it’s like sometimes you’re listening to some of these exposures and you’re like oh man this is it feels harsh.

(04:05) It feels, are we doing something wrong here? And I feel like the Lord’s saying, I’m behind much of this right now. I am the one that is pointing the finger. I am the one that’s coming to lift up the skirts and uncover the nakedness and the shame that’s been allowed and tolerated even among my leaders. And so I Yeah. Well, I’ve got a couple of thoughts.

(04:33) Um, one of them is spiritual, one is very practical, you know, understanding the prophetic, those who operate in that and who are akin to receiving prophetic words or revelations. I know for me, I am much more attuned to the spirits at work behind individuals or causes or ministries.

(04:59) And in the early years when I would communicate in my mind, in my heart, I’m speaking to those principalities become I’m seeing the enemy who is is affecting that individual, who is speaking through that individual. Well, I’m not going to be nice to a demon. I’m going to speak rather harshly. But I learned early on that to some people, they thought I was talking to that person or about that person.

(05:23) And so I had to always qualify I’m thinking in as an intercessor I’m addressing the spirits that work behind this individual. Now sometimes a person willingly goes along with that. A lot of times they have no no idea but that’s part of the spiritual warfare. Uh but the other thing that can be very practical because this is something I’ve learned through years of working with people.

(05:45) Um there are different personality types. You know everyone has a love language. Everyone gives and receives compliments or affirmations or even correction different ways. They’re and I have three kids. You just have some kids and you’ll learn this. You know, one of my kids, all you have to do is look at him when he was small wrong and he would just melt in tears, you know, that he did something wrong.

(06:09) Then you have another kid, I mean, how many times do you have to, you know, give him instruction and it’s like, you know, this defiance or like what do you mean? What are you saying? And you can say it the same way but they respond totally differently. And so on the one hand when we hear because this is just very practical of what’s happening right now.

(06:27) There are some the I think there are individuals in the body of Christ. The reason it’s so hard to hear these things is likely because they’re the kind of individual very sensitive heart and and you know they would not want to hear that because they would never say that. Right? That’s valid and I won’t fault anyone for that.

(06:44) But it does not disqualify another voice that the Lord will use because it’s needed. And here’s why. When we’re talking about especially a false prophet or or some of these individuals, some of these individuals are very aggressive. I mean, their personalities are the point the finger kind of person.

(07:06) And the only way they’re going to hear it is through another direct confrontation. You can’t beat around the bush with them. And so this is why some of these voices are needed is because and also I’ll I’ll say for myself there was years ago I was walking in a direction I should not be heading and and I had some other people try to tell me it wasn’t until a true brother in the Lord sat me down pointed his finger at me said Wanda do you realize what you are doing I mean it took that direct confrontation for me to get it I knew he loved me but that’s how

(07:37) I needed to hear it so I’m simply you know encouraging people that as these things come out, don’t impose your preference on all these situations. The Lord knows what is needed and how it’s needed to reach the target.
