Finding Peace in the Midst of Busyness

By Austin Roscoe Published on January 7, 2019

Jesus is so good. Healing and restoration just follow Him everywhere He goes — like plants growing after a rain, when the sun comes out again. Like in the case of the woman with the issue of blood. Let’s read a little bit of the story:

A man named Jairus, a synagogue leader, came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come to his house because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying.

As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.

“Who touched me?” Jesus asked.

When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.”

But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”

Like the woman pressing through the crowds, when we take a moment to be quiet and come to Him, He feels our touch. He pushes through the noise and suddenly we find ourselves in the glorious presence of the God who made the universe. And His presence is one of compassionate love.

Go In Peace

Just a couple verses more:

Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”

When it comes time to resume our business, He sends us out with peace. But unlike in the day of Luke 8, we no longer leave Him, for His Spirit lives within us if we have received Him.

That same Spirit that loves us, guides us, and gives us peace goes with us through our busyness. And we have only to recognize it.

Be Still Today

Today, the God of peace is living in you. If you’re having trouble believing it, take a moment to be still and “cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
