This smart, savvy new show by NY Times best-selling Christian author Eric Metaxas is on the air nationwide, and online in podcasts.

Eric Metaxas is friend of The Stream, and an old friend of mine (we met at Yale before his conversion, then reconnected at a pro-life event 20 years later). I remember when he was publishing one of his first books, Everything You Wanted to Know About God, But Were Afraid to Ask, and he asked me for a blurb. How our trajectories have crossed since then! Eric has since published two New York Times best-sellers, Bonhoeffer and Miracles, and a life of anti-slavery crusader William Wilberforce that was made into a terrific Hollywood movie of the same title, Amazing Grace.

Here are a few more highlights from his bio:

Metaxas was the keynote speaker at the 2012 National Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC, an event attended by the President and First Lady, the Vice President, members of Congress, and other U.S. and  world leaders.  Previous keynote speakers have included Mother Theresa, Bono, and Tony Blair. That speech and Eric’s essay on the experience, were put into a book, No Pressure, Mr. President: The Power of True Belief in a Time of Crisis.

n 2011, Metaxas was the 17th recipient of the Canterbury Medal awarded by the Becket Fund for Religious Freedom.  Previous medalists include Mitt Romney, Chuck Colson, and Elie Wiesel.   He has testified before Congress about the rise of anti-Semitism in the U.S. and abroad, and spoke at CPAC 2013 on the issue of Religious Freedom. In September 2013, Eric and his wife Susanne were jointly awarded the Human Life Review’s “Great Defender of Life Award.” In May 2014, Metaxas was awarded honorary Doctorates from Hillsdale College and Liberty University.

So Eric won’t be needing any more blurbs from me! But I’m delighted to see that he has a new national radio show, through the Salem network. You can find him on a station near you, or, if you’re like me and you no longer own a radio but listen to everything on podcasts, here are his first two episodes ready for download, with many more to come. Eric will broadcast two hours a day, five days per week. I’m not sure I could talk on the telephone to friends for that many hours, but more power to him. Eric has the rare gift of being at once earnest and inspiring, then effortlessly funny. It’s just the right combination for reaching people today.

God bless your efforts, Eric. If we had … 500 more people like you, we’d be living in a much kinder, more joyful country.
