5th Undercover Video — Branch Director: Some Planned Parenthood Affiliates ‘Think It’s illegal’

Melissa Farrell, Director of Research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, speaking to a technician about their sale of baby body parts: "Any idea why the other affiliates in Texas think it's illegal?"

The Center for Medical Progress has issued its fifth undercover video exposing Planned Parenthood’s business of selling fetal body parts, and it reveals plenty more instances indicating the organization is engaging in criminal activity.

Posing as a research company interested in purchasing fetuses, the undercover buyers discuss the costs with Melissa Farrell, Director of Research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast. Farrell, with her background in finance, makes it clear the transaction will be profitable — a felony since federal law prohibits profiting from the sale of fetal body parts — and that they can change the abortion procedures to ensure the fetuses come out intact (thus rendering them more marketable in the fetal body parts aftermarket), also a violation of law.

A particularly incriminating part of the video comes when Farrell turns to a technician and asks, “Any idea why the other affiliates in Texas think it’s illegal?”

Yes, that’s right, some of Planned Parenthood’s own employees apparently think what they are doing is illegal.

The video also includes footage of Abby Johnson, a former clinic director for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, testifying at a Texas Senate hearing how the Planned Parenthood affiliate earned a hefty profit from the sales. She says that at $100 per specimen, the affiliate was making $120,000 a month. “That’s certainly not recouping costs,” she adds [emphasis hers].

Farrell unwittingly corroborates this when she brags to the undercover buyers about how she can contribute to the organization with “diversification of the revenue stream.” The undercover buyer praises Farrell’s financial background, saying in regards to the fetal body parts selling, “It’s gold out there,” and Farrell nods and says, “Yeah.”

Farrell discusses how they’ll need to change their abortion procedures to make sure the fetuses come out intact: “We deviate from our standard, get creative … exploring how to make a higher chance of intact, talk directly to the doctor — they can make it happen.” This is further evidence that the abortionists, contrary to federal law, do often deviate from standard procedure to improve the marketability of the baby body parts. The standard procedures are standard, incidentally, because they are judged to be the best procedures for the life and health of the mothers, but apparently never mind about that when other considerations are on the table. “It’s all just a matter of the line items,” Farrell adds.

In the latter part of the video, the undercover buyers ask to see some aborted fetuses. One of the technicians shows them the organs and starts pulling them out of the little bodies, saying, “The organs come out really, really well.” It is heartbreaking to see such callousness, and a little shocking to see such a brazen disregard for federal felony law.

In a sane world, the U.S. Senate would move aggressively to criminally investigate Planned Parenthood and possibly shut down the organization. We can hope, of course, but yesterday Senate Democrats successfully blocked a bill with a much more modest purpose: ending taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood.

So, how many more horrific sting videos on this organization must come out before a handful of Democrats break with their party’s Borg-like commitment to the culture of death? How much more of this gruesome reality before a courageous handful of them break with their party’s robotic allegiance to Planned Parenthood? If and when they do, then our federal government can finally do something about the criminal profiteering off of the lives of the unborn, a bloody business going on right in our own communities  — an industry presently subsidized by American taxpayers against their will.

(Warning: The latter half of this video contains gruesome and disturbing imagery.)
