Democrats Try to Save Face, While Hillary Gets a New Face

By Al Perrotta Published on December 16, 2019

On Wednesday, House Democrats will vote to impeach President Trump. And the nation’s yawning.

In fact, House Democrats are not just losing voters with impeachment, they’re losing Democratic members. New Jersey congressman Jeff Van Drew is reportedly ditching the donkeys for the GOP.

As Nancy Pelosi admits, they’ve been working two-and-a-half years on this impeachment production and it’s the biggest bomb since Ishtar

The Misconduct Was Real β€” With Clinton

I remember well Bill Clinton’s 1998 impeachment and trial. I was a Clinton supporter and I didn’t want to see him impeached. There was a partisan tint to the whole effort. But I knew the charges were serious, the misconduct was real. The Starr Report and its list of alleged crimes were detailed and specific.

The Clinton impeachment was a very intense, serious and somber process that had the nation’s undivided attention. Sure, the case involved sex, and the stained blue dress, the finger-waving “I did not have sex with that woman” whopper, debates over the definition of “sex,” debates over the meaning of “is,” the easily mocked figure of Linda Tripp, and the unfortunate butt of a million crude jokes, Monica Lewinsky. Nonetheless, the Clinton impeachment carried a gravitas befitting a process that had only occurred twice before in our nation’s history.

This? This has all the seriousness of the p-hats of the “Resistance.” A Robert De Niro rant. Kathy Griffin with her severed Trump head. It’s Saturday Night Live without the musical guest. And more farce. It’s no wonder Adam Schiff defended his report on Stephen Colbert’s show rather than in front of the House Judiciary Committee.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, after Thursday’s vote, said it was a “somber and sad day.” Sure. He’s sad because he knows the grand impeachment is a grand disaster. Nancy Pelosi looks as shaky and worn and in need of shot of whiskey as a Wal-Mart checker after Black Friday.

Future Crimes

How terrible have the Democrats been in showing that Trump did anything wrong? They are now arguing Trump should be removed because of what he might do in the 2020 election.

Or this new one from Nadler. He says Trump must be removed because he continues to pose a threat to national security. (Sorry, but when he gives a billion dollars in cash and a path to a nuclear bomb to a terrorist regime that screams “Death to America,” then talk to me about a president threatening national security.)

In other words, Trump must be impeached now because of future crimes his critics think he might commit. The Mueller Report did away with innocent until proven guilty. The Democrats are now arguing guilty until proven innocent. Before there’s even been a crime.

Meanwhile, all Trump did last week was:

  • Secure a win in the House on USMCA β€” which his foes insisted he’d never get.
  • Get phase one of a trade deal with China β€” that his foes insisted could never happen.
  • Sign a landmark executive order combating anti-Semitism.
  • Strike a deal with Congress for paid parental leave for federal employees.
  • Secure funding for Space Force
  • Secure more funding for the Wall
  • See the stock market reach new heights.
  • Oh, and not for nothing, he saw the release of a 476-page Inspector General report that confirmed the Obama FBI spied on his campaign and lied through their teeth to make it happen. That, Mr. Comey, is what “vindication” looks like.
  • And speaking of James Comey, the new week began with the former FBI director admitting “I was wrong” about the FBI properly following FISA procedures..

Will Hillary Be a New Face in the Race?

Sunday morning saw both Nadler and Schiff trying to put on a brave face. Both insisted that a quick and easy acquittal of Trump by the Senate would not be a “failure” … after a House vote that’ll likely see several Democratic defections … after ratings for impeachment hearings tanked … after polls show support for impeachment dropping in swing states … after all this business has driven Trump’s poll numbers up.

I guess you can’t blame them for putting on a brave face. And speaking of faces, there may be a new face entering the Democratic race. And when we say a new face, we mean a new face on an old face. Have you seen new shots of Hillary Clinton? Girlfriend’s had some work done … in Dr. Frankenstein’s lab. This is some pretty freaky stuff. Or she decided to stuff her lost emails in her cheeks.

Hillary was spotted with her new mug at the Broadway musical Ain’t Too Proud to Beg. (If anyone knows about temptations, it’s the Clinton’s. That’s how Bill got in his impeachment mess in the first place.)

Now, why in the world would Hillary want to go get her face done? It’s yet another tea leaf suggesting she’s looking to jump in the race. And why not? A new poll shows that if Hillary got in, she’d immediately become the front-runner.

(Though running’s not really a reason to get plastic surgery. You want to look younger, Hillary? Just stand next to Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders.)

Rematch?!?!?!?

Though the thought of Hillary Clinton running again seems absurd, or frightening, we do see why Democrats might turn a desperate eye her way. Overturning the 2016 election has failed miserably. Why not rerun the election? Sequels don’t have to stink. Look at Frozen 2

Give Hillary the chance that was stolen in 2016 by the Russians, sexism, Bernie Sanders, James Comey, campaign financing, Obama, campaign journalists, low information voters, wives submitting to their husbands. And more Russians.

Oh, we shouldn’t make fun of Hillary, her never-ending excuses and her new face. It’s Christmas. Besides, given their behavior the past three years, it’s remarkable any Democratic leader is showing their face.
